Saying current Novak is better than previous versions is honestly disrespecting him. In 2011 for instance, Novak had one of the greatest years ever going a combined 10-1 against Federer and Nadal in their primes. Calling current Novak better is just weird. He used to be way more agile and way more durable. He was probably the fittest player on tour.

The current era is way weaker the the golden age of tennis Novak came up in. Especially prior to the past year when Alcaraz broke through.
Oh hell no - he ain't better overall as a player.

2011 Novak is the best player to ever play tennis. But this version has become better at some things. His ground strokes are harder, and his serve is better. He knows how to shorten points better. But more so out of necessity, as his fitness is, I use this loosely - overrated - in the sense that he isn't outlasting these players like some claim. He is just outsmarting them and making them wilt.

Novak won the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. He served huge against Sinner!

Honestly it's crazy but he looks like he could win 30 slams before he retires if he can stay healthy and motivated.

Current Djok is genuinely as good as 2011, probably better cause the serve is that much better.

    As wild as that is.

Hes even more aggressive than in 2011, hits harder, and makes less errors.

    But boy is he lucky

He's pretty good but 2011 Djok was beating Nadal, Fed and Murray.

I can easily see current Novak as like #4 in the world in that era. Competition was just way too strong.

    Thats not an argument though.

Compare their games and it should be obvious 2023 Novak is at least as good.

You can't compare games if they are playing against different players. Novak's serves for instance would be returned a lot more by those three guys I mentioned.

I mean as a Nadal fan, you think current Novak is beating prime Rafa? Even I don't think that. Novak has aged incredibly well but he's still well below his peak form at slams. And that's with his playing schedule way lighter. He's load managing so to speak in order to peak for slams nowadays.

Rafa is back playing. Feels good to watch him again. I don't even care if he doesn't win any more slams anymore, just happy to watch his last year.

You can. Many people have said 2023 Djokovic is peak Djokovic, even he alluded to this.

Absoutey could 2023 Novak beat prime Rafa, did you even watch the man? lol

Talking about less returns being brought back now, lol.

How much of a shot do y'all give Sinner against Djokovic? I have not watched anything but Sinner hasn't lost a set yet meanwhile prime Djokovic has dropped a few sets to no-names and apparently a future Novak in that kid he played early.

Alcatraz Island dropped the first set to Zverev. He's in some trouble. Let's see how the young buck responds.

Great resilience from Carlos! Great mental fortitude to turn that set around.

Still a long way to go...
