serious question
- why wasn't that a charge?
I watched in slow mo, kuzma got to his spot before Cousins was in the air - both feet very deliberately planted right outside of the no-charge circle - and hands were down not swiping at DMC or even at the ball
- yet the foul was on him? How? Someone point to the alleged defensive the foul please.
This era's defensive ban is insane

His left foot is inside the restricted area... clear as day.

in the first two views his toe looks just outside
in the 3rd - questionable - i can see it being "on" the line (barely)
If I'm a ref why am I giving the offensive player more benefit of the doubt?
Defensive player hustled to get there - and its so close I don't think it'd be clear during the game - I'd reward the defensive effort.
So I admit it's closer than I first thought especially after having watched the 3rd angle. But still, I just can't stand that close calls always go the way of offensive players. The refs knew they weren't gonna call that and I bet they didn't even see his feet. They just knew not to call it. That's what I think - that's the way the NBA calls games these days.

thats not how it works though... you have to be totally outside it, not a toe on the line and the rest of your foot behind it.

Oh I get it.
I'm just getting tired of the constant attrition of defense in basketball. You know, prior to the late 90's that semi circle didn't even exist. Over the decades the league has gotten more and more pro-offense. Just irritates me seeing defensive players hustling as they should and yet have pretty much zero options. There are too many situations now in basketball where there literally isn't any option to stop the offensive player. That play is a perfect example. By the time boogie caught it there was literally nothing the defense could do. Why even try on defense especially in situations like that if that's the case. Wasn't always that way.
