the more you shoot contested shots outside the lower your fg% gets ... but its made up for by the increased output
LEBRON SHOT MORE 3's THAN KOBE AND STILL HAS A HIGHER PPS

1. shooting more 3's equals a higher pps dumby

and

2.
he shoots his 3's wide open and gets stiff arm/wipe off layups/free throws for the rest of his points

while kobe was part of the mid range generation back when basketball actually had defense and you couldn't just walk to the basket with ease every time

.
5 feet or further:

Lebron 07' Finals:.... 8/54 = 14.8%
Lebron 08' ecsf:... 26/111 = 23.4%
Lebron 10' ecsf:..... 22/70 = 31.4%

Lebron 11' Finals:.. 20/58 = 34.4%
Lebron 13' Finals:.. 34/98 = 34.7%

Lebron 15' Finals:. 39/137 =28.5%

He's at 38% and 33% in the 17' and 18' Finals, so I think he's shoots poorly all the time outside of 5 feet.

MJ:

Jordan 97' Finals:. 51/125 = 40.8%
Jordan 98' Finals:. 41/123= 33.3%

MJ's is better obviously and if we looked at just jumpers MJ would beat him worse...

What's with this nit-picking?

2001 Playoffs
3-10 47%
10-16 44.8%
16-3PT 38.8%
3PT 32.4%

2002 Playoffs
3-10 43.4%
10-16 41.3%
16-3PT 35.3%
3PT 37.9%

2009 Playoffs
3-10 40.7%
10-16 45.1%
16-3PT 46.4%
3PT 34.9%

2010 Playoffs
3-10 52.1%
10-16 47.5%
16-3PT 43.5%
3PT 37.4%

Here's Lebron's for 2012 Playoffs

3-10 43.2%
10-16 47.7%
16-3PT 33.3%
3PT 25.9%

2013
3-10 32.7%
10-16 31.1%
16-3PT 43.4%
3PT 37.5%

2016
3-10 34.6%
10-16 28.6%
16-3PT 45.5%
3PT 34%

Looking at their Playoffs career

Lebron
3-10 38.1%
10-16 35.1%
16-3PT 37.8%
3PT 33.2%

Kobe
3-10 46.8%
10-16 44.9%
16-3PT 40%
3PT 33.4%

Kobe's better at shooting from all distances outside the paint, this myth that Lebron is a better shooter is completely out of bounds, Kobe shoots the higher percentage from every spot yet he was facing double teams and Lebron was mostly left open on those shots. You also have to consider that Kobe shot way more mid-range jumpers, yet was far more effective at them.

You can nitpick a game or a series or one random year, but overall numbers say that Kobe's much better at outside shooting in the Playoffs. Kobe's a much better mid-range shooter in the RS as well. Career numbers prove it.

Yes it is

There's actually stats on how close defenders are on Lebron's threes and the data is available since 2013-14 season, Lebron shoots them wide open.

https://stats.nba.com/players/shots-...%20Wide%20Open

You can play around with this if you want, but stats here prove that he shoots them when a defender is 4-6+ ft away. Most of the NBA does.

Wow.. / thread

Not only is kobe a much better shooter from every distance, but lebron isn't a good shooter from ANY distance and his efficiency is propped up by his at-rim bunnies

So Kobe and MJ were BOTH trash outside 5 feet? Embarrassing, especially for MJ. Considering his height+vertical+quickness every jumpshot should be fukking wide open. I'm tired of hearing about this dumb nigguh who did nothing but jump high

Lebron has many seasons under 30%, while MJ has none and was over 40% in 97'.. lebron was never over 40%

Lebron was between 14% and 38%.. old MJ was at 33 and 41%

Thank you, the actual stats. So, as we can see, LeBron sucks from mid-range out...
