Apparently according to David Pecker. Pecker and his people were the source of this version of events. But you know what, they should get David Pecker to testify publically under oath about this and his other dealings with Trump... and clear up any inconsistencies. Cohen said as much during his testimony. It would be good to hear how many stories Pecker has caught and killed for Trump, what kinds of stories he has caught and killed for Trump, and whether AMI's work on the Karen McDougal story was simply part of their normal course of business or part of Pecker's desire and effort to aid the Trump campaign as he personally promised to Trump. And we could get to the bottom of why the Karen McDougal deal fell apart.

Again, it sounds like Cohen has conflated the two payments: those for all the stories Pecker and AMI had caught and killed, and the individual payment for Karen McDougal story. It's cute that you're picking and choosing when to believe Cohen. One minute, you're calling Cohen's a liar who can't be trusted, and the next, you're leaning on "but Cohen said!" On the other hand, I want to corroborate everything he said... let's call more individuals to openly testify in order to make sure he wasn't lying to Congress again.

Are you daft? Michael Cohen gave open testimony before Congress on Wednesday. You have said that he is a liar and can't be trusted. You've also intimated that he lied during his testimony on Wednesday. We now have an account that is at dispute between what we believe Pecker and his lawyers have said and what Cohen said on Wednesday. Pecker should be brought in to formally corroborate Michael Cohen's account of this particular issue and his general efforts to help Trump or to correct the record. His testimony would be especially instructive in regards to why the McDougal deal between him and Trump did not go through and whether he had any further communication with Trump about it after, according to accounts that intimate him as the source, his lawyers told him not to go ahead with the deal due to legal liability.

We know Trump has lied about his involvement in all of this. He said he knew nothing about any of it, and then we heard him on tape. His story has changed quite a bit. We can't get him before congress, so it's important to get the people he dealt with in.

Must be extremely frustrating to investigate a pathological liar of a president in the white house with the powers that he has. He can keep lying over and over again since he is not under oath unless if he is impeached, which could be hell to do without an obvious smoking gun.
