Default Stop bashing on millenials you oldschoolers

We inherited a world with mixed gender roles, many single moms, pornography, video games, terrorism, crazy amounts of distractions, destructive philosophies, feminized public schools, wack nutrition, expectations to get at least a bachelor's, a crazy economy and a rapidly changing technological world, excessive praise by schoolteachers and other weird issues.

All of the above are poison.

You think I want to grow up on Clueless rather than the Breakfast Club?
On Million Dollar baby instead of Rocky 4?

We supposed to work together not against one another.

KBlaze already said to stop making threads when there's already a discussion going on about the topic at hand:

I agree with most of your OP

Just wanna mention however that Million Dollar Baby was about x100000 better of a movie than any installment in the Rocky series. Clint Eastwood has directed some quality stuff. Mystic River is one of the greats.

shut up, Kenny. You are a fukking loser whose daddy left him a bunch of money that has overinflated your sense of worth. You are a fukking loser and a nobody and you always will be. And if you got a problem with that, hit me up, we can square it all up. But no, you would never agree to that because you're fukking *****. You always be a scared little boy with a big mouth.

i worked for over a decade and chose to retire because i inherited money. my self worth was mostly accomplished prior to retiring. i had already been living on my own, in relations with many beautiful women, i had already owned most of the "cool shit" i always wanted. in fact i spent more when i was working. you seem to be extremely obsessed with my situation. that leads me to believe you're in a poor one. you literally just said "square up" like some jilted karl malone 10 years after being left in the dust by a much smarter/more talented kobe.

Except for the first. That's a real good movie. The rest is shit. Too bad they felt the need to make it a hollywood happy ending story by creating the 2nd one.

I can agree that the first Rocky was actually good, but Million Dollar Baby was better. That was a really good movie.

I don't know. There's a time to be avuncular, and then there's a time to call 'em out. I was shooting hoops with this 18 year old kid. He tells me he's deep into music, films, etc. I don't say anything. He proceeds to tell me that he likes Tame Impala! Never heard of Fall, Beefheart, Gang of Four... there's little that I can do. He goes on to tell me his favourite film is Gone Girl. Look, I get it; we've all been 18. I told him to see a Tarkovsky, preferably Stalker or The Sacrifice. Briefly mentioned Fassbinder, Bergman, Ray... but I didn't want to overwhelm the guy. The trick has always been to put time and effort into cultivating good taste.

    These are not correct IMO.

Gen X = you were in HS during early/mid 90s grunge era, + michael jordan, michael jackson, dallas cowboys, pepsi, gatorade etc

Gen Y = you were in HS during late 90s/early 00s era split between preppy clothes/TRL/ boy bands, and nu metal/emo screamo etc, and nelly/hip hop etc

Millenials = first generation to be in high school during the social media age, c. 2007. This is the downfall of society.

You stated that The Fall made the best music of the 20th century, so why should anyone care about your taste?

So, you've assimilated their Peel sessions? Thoughts?

    1) I know more about these subjects than just about anyone. Let me rephrase that: I don't defer to anyone on these subjects, especially film.
    2) On numerous occasions, I've completely gutted what I've listened to. I've started from scratch. Suffice it to say, I put a lot of work into this. There's no nostalgia, no residue.

Do I need to curate a Fall listening session? I offered to list all the folks that Beefheart has influenced, but no one took me up on the challenge.
