No, he retired. Stern passed a law prohibiting the murdering of one's own father and Jordan retired out of principle.

This whole "Dad killer" is among the dumbest theories I've read on this site.
Mike's Dad pulled over at a roadside rest and was shot by two hoods.
In fact, they're still in prison.
Facts:
"Green has said that he helped dump Jordan’s body into a swamp, that he and Demery stole the Lexus and took a collection of prized possessions that had belonged to Michael Jordan’s father. Most damning, in the days after the murder, Green filmed a rap video in which, preening and strutting, he wore an NBA championship watch that Michael Jordan had given to his father as well as the Bulls star’s 1986 NBA All-Star ring."
"Twenty-three days after originally crossing paths with James Jordan, Green and Demery were arrested and charged with murder, done in largely by calls they’d made from Jordan’s car phone."
You think a guy like Mike in '93 after 3 chips and 9 years in the league couldn't handle a 7 figure debt? Go look at the 40 mil house he bought in Chicago in '91. 9.99 million would have been chump change.
Mike retired because he stated he wanted his Dad to have seen his last NBA game, and his pops always wanted him to be a baseball player. I was 20 in college and watched his announcement live on TV.
Even if that's all smoke and mirrors and Stern wanted him out due to excessive gambling, I'll never believe his Dad stopping at a roadside rest in a shiny red Lexus was somehow orchestrated by the "Russian Mafia". Mike would have paid the debt at the mere threat of this - come on people - use common sense.
