Default My basketball teammate and coach just passed away yesterday

He drowned in a kayak accident just yesterday afternoon. He coached and played on my men's league team. It seems so surreal. I just played with him on Wednesday. I remember the last handshake I gave him less than 36 hours ago.

I wanted to know from any kayaking experts. How difficult is it to recover from a capsized kayak? From what I l've seen it doesn't seem very difficult. Unfortunately he wasn't wearing a life jacket. He was crabbing in a cove at a local park in Vancouver. He's paddle out to set his trap. I'm assuming it wasn't too far. The water is generally calm in this area. How hard is it to execute an Eskimo roll?

Anyways, RIP to him. He's a big part of the local basketball scene here in Vancouver. He works as a immigration consultant and has helped hundreds of foreigners come get citizenship in Canada. God rest his soul

Do me a favor peeps. Take life jackets seriously. All it takes is a freak accident. This device saves lives.

"He was yelling and screaming and asking for help," Krista Delloch said.

Delloch said she saw two bystanders try to reach the man but "he never came back up."

Yes, that's the story. Thanks for the link. I just saw the story posted on another news site.

its so easy to stay afloat in water. you just lean back and you float lol

its best to not have clothes on though cause they weigh you down... if you're ever about to go overboard or you're crash landing at sea. strip down to your underwear

It takes a really classless person to be this insensitive. Let's hope karma doesn't get you

He was on a capsized kayak. I'm assuming the boat turned and he was stuck under water. He may have been in a very difficult position to extract himself. I'm sure he knew how to float

Sorry man. Dealing with death is tough.

One day I found out that an ex gf that I was still friendly with was shot and killed. I was pretty broken up.

I was with my mom when she took her last breath. We knew her time was up and she was in hospice care, but it was still rough.

Dealing with death is part of life but there is no easy way to handle it. It just takes time.

I think what hits the hardest is when it's sudden and tragic. Accidents, drowning, murders...it's so surreal. This was especially bizarre as I just played ball and shook his hand on Wednesday. You don't think, dude is gonna die tomorrow.

    Yes that is strange.

We hear about people dying in car accidents all the time but until it happens to someone you are close to it doesn't register how traumatic it is.

Just imagine what his family is going through now.

Sorry about that DaHeezy, I know I've been trolling you here but that real life shit that happened to your friend sucks. My condolences and may God be with his family.
