    MJ's playoff run

    85: 1st round exit (1-3 vs Bucks)
    86: 1st round exit (0-3 vs Celtics)
    87: 1st round exit (0-3 vs Celtics)

    And then...

But, this is why they don't get hyped.

88: 2nd round exit (1-4 vs Pistons) *Thank Scottie (at least I made it out of the 1st round this year)
89: ECF exit (2-4 vs Pistons)
90: ECF exit (3-4 vs Pistons)

They demoralized Jordan for three straight years and by hyping the Pistons would tarnish David Stern's lap dog Fraud Jordan.

Because the 80s Celtics were much better teams? The 86 Celtics are the greatest NBA team of all time.

    1. They weren't as good as those peak Celtics teams. They beat them basically when Boston was on its last legs.

    2. Had a reputation for 'thuggish' tactics that was hard to market to the masses.

    3. Was seen more as a transitional champion/bridge between the Celtics/Lakers and the Bulls dynasty.

Transitional championship bridge between lakers and celtics would describe the 76ers of 1983. And then they never returned to the Finals. With the Pistons they knocked off the Celtics and then the Lakers on top of appearing in 3 straight finals with a repeat included.

    - Pistons were not well liked by many players and fans, their physical type of game wasn't eye pleasing when you compare it to the Celtics' beautiful ball-movement
    These are the reasons.

The Bad Boy Pistons were great, my favorite team ever is the 1989 team. However, they were sandwiched between the Lakers and Celtics rivalry and the Michael Jordan Bulls. Not only are those all-time great teams that all won at least three titles (compared to two for Detroit) but they also happen to have four of the six greatest players ever (at the time) on their combined rosters.
