You're the guy into raw foods right? How's that actually working out?

This is the new age of education about food.
I am the old guy in this board , and I still know people that cook with Lard and my mom did.

I am over weight and wife says I have bad habits.

I have changed to some degree , because of her , but I eat wild game..
I also am a bread eater , so my crap is firm.

But I am from the 60's generation , hippy , sure , baby boomer 101.
Yogurt , tea, and no High Frotose is not in my diet.

Just recently stopped drinking , maybe a beer when out for dinner , but that's it.
I have hunted last two years in mountains, and I can safely say exercise has always been part of my life style , but I have to have a goal , otherwise I am on the PC or couch...

You guys got to get on the fermented food game.

Fresh sauerkraut = Trillions of good gut bacteria.

Kefir, sauerkraut, pickles, yogurt very nice.

Shots of water with apple cider vinegar. Occasional use of garlic.

Try to avoid sugar. Center diet around cooked vegetables, proteins, etc.

    Try fasting too.

    Step by step maintain health.
This argument occurs daily with my health addict wife who is in the health care field (RN)
I eat meat , she does not.
Her parents ate lots of sugar items as well as meat ..
My parents as well , lard , bacon fat ... only my father died young at 69. The rest all in their 80's.

So I do eat kraut , and many other gut healthy foods , but sugar will always be in my diet.
I have to say being married to her has curbed one love I have always eaten and that is ice cream.
    A minimum of a 1/2 gallon a week ..
Have not eaten it in at least 6+ months...
Yogurt is also out , most bought yogurt is full of sugar , and my wife's yogurt tastes like paste.
Veggies are always in as well as fruit.
But as a hunter , I eat wild game, steaks, burgers from my neighbors fresh beef .. will never go out of my diet.
Fast food is gone , and a good reason is that it is not good for you , and dealing with cvd19 --- don't even want to go there.

Good to hear you have cut down on ice cream. You've already shared that you lead a very, very active life so that's good.

The thing about food is it also has an effect on your mind and spirit. Have you tried fasting before?

I get it. You have the "freedom" to indulge in those things. Really I do.

But I promise you 100% that if you abstain from those things you will physically and mentally feel better. Alcohol is just poison for your liver and mind. You can do more without them.

If that truly was the most important thing to me I wouldn't work 7 days a week, 365 days a year. My body and sanity would thank me for it

All of us will eventually go in the so-called afterlife someday anyway so needless to say, it shouldnt matter that much. Time is short. Let us enjoy our lives to the fullest, in our very own ways while we still can. To each his own.
