Default Chiefs did a great job upgrading defense

Although it appeared quiet, they did a fantastic job upgrading. Their biggest difficiency might be their greatest strength.

    Clark > Ford
    Ogbah/Okafor > Houston
    Mathieu > Berry
    Breeland > Nelson
    Spanguolo > Sutton

This may be the first time in Chiefs history the defense and offense are simultaneously high calibre. Can't wait for my Chiefs this season!

Our linebackers are trash and we need at least another solid corner. Our D-LINE will be nasty for the 1st time in a long time tho. Good luck blocking clark and jones all game

Frank Clark is a solid pass rusher, but paying ~20+M/yr for him is laughably idiotic

    Can you explain why?

He's a perfect schematic fit in Spagnuolo's 4-3 defense and is entering his peak years. He's one of the most productive pass rushers in the NFL with an extremely high motor.

He's worth the money and is a legit game-changer... pairing him with Chris Jones makes the Chiefs D-Line arguably best in the NFL

i have watched frank clark every single weekend for the past couple years.

the reason 20+m/yr is laughably idiotic for him is because he is not a top tier pass rusher (hes second tier at best), and because he got kicked off his college team for domestic abuse (the chiefs have already met their quota for abusive piece of shit players)

I think he's top tier though and getting better. All I know is he's a perfect fit and filled one our biggest gaps/needs. It might've been a reach for other teams but he's worth it for the Chiefs who are in win-now mode and have the cap space to do it.

i 100% disagree that the chiefs are win-now... over the course of this offseason they have lost their best RB and it looks like they are going to lose their game-breaking WR... and Mahomes is only 23...

Even if the chiefs were in win-now, paying elite money for a non-elite player is dumb

We were a coin flip away from winning the AFC... we lost kareem hunt in the middle of the season. Damien William's had 3TDs against the Patriots and is actually a better fit with mahomes due to his pass catching ability. Plus we signed Carlos Hyde to back him up and have some young guys with good potential... we're absolutely fine at RB

Losing hill will hurt but Mahones stats were almost identical when Hill didnt play last year. Hill was a no show in the playoffs too.

13 sacks while manning one of the best run stopping Ds in the NFL IS elite no matter how you slice it.

Chiefs are in win now... and future mode. Just because mahomes is young doesnt mean you dont make the moves that will help us win immediately. Because that's what they're doing.

Hunt played 11 games before he was suspended, thats like 2/3 of a season.

Williams has been in the NFL for 5 years and never had more than 50 attempts in a season, good luck with that.

Regardless of whether Hill was a "no show" in the playoffs, having a guy who can stretch the field like him creates tons of space and opportunities for the rest of the offense.

The Seahawks defense is designed to benefit the defensive line, and they were great against the run in spite of Clark, not because of him. If Clark had 12 sacks instead of 13 he would have been tied for 16th place in that category.

Superbowls aren't won with RBs and WRs... they're won with QB's and defense. Our offense was fine without Hunt and Hill being a no show. We drafted a guy who runs a 4.27 and can be a similar player to Hill. We already have Watkins and Kelce, and a guy named Demarcus Robinson who will likely have a breakout year. The offense is fine. More than fine.

And with the defensive moves Veach has made thus far, it's looking like our defense will be fine too. Steve Spagnoulo is a defensive line specialist... Frank Clark with his high motor and versatility is going to absolutely thrive in KC next to another elite pass rusher in Jones. Clark is a way better run stopper than Ford or Houston and is literally the perfect fit for what Spagnoulo is trying to do with the line.... which involves a lot of stunting and looping (which Clark excels at)

We've upgraded our D-Line and secondary pretty tremendously.

Point is, with Mahomes still on his rookie contract it'd be stupid not to go out and make these moves. It's the same blueprint that won the Eagles the SB and the Rams the NFC last year.

Too bad these upgrades don't mean much without Hill.

You guys are about to lose a guy who had 1500 yards and 12 TDs last year. You can't replace that.

How productive was he in the playoffs?

WR's don't win Superbowls. Losing Hill is a blessing in disguise because we would've payed him an enormous contract. We drafted a guy with the same speed/skillset

QBs and defense win SB's. Remember that. You guys are really overrating Hills importance.

100% agree that QB and defense wins superbowls.

That said, I think you are seriously underrating Hills importance to the chiefs offense. Even if Hill wasnt catching balls in the playoffs, he was stretching the defense and opening up the field for the rest of his team....without Hill it will be significantly harder for guys like Kelce to get open.

Frank is at the top of the list as a second tier edge player.

20 Million + the draft picks was a disaster though.
