    Arrow Any early risers?

Been trying to change my schedule. Want to get up at 530am every day but have been finding it almost impossible as a single dude going out on dates etc cuz late nights are basically inevitable.

Anyone here get up very early, and not because their job makes them get up early? Tell us the benefits....

I wake up between 4 AM and 5 AM every single day, even weekends. I typically go into work between 5 - 6 AM even though I do not have to be there until 7:30. I would rather go in early than leave late plus the office is quiet and empty so I get a lot of my desk work done before anyone gets here.

I used to play in a 5:30am open gym. It felt weird, nothing like playing in the evening. After 6 months I said fucc this noise and went back to bed.

This is how you do it. You can dodge a lot of the commute traffic at the same time as well.

I had a good streak of waking up at 530 to go gym/ball before work. Like you said, life gets in the way and it gets tough waking up but man do you feel accomplished going to the gym that early.

You can finish a shooting sesh + workout + steam/sauna all before most people wake up. You have nothing but energy and motivation for the rest of the day. Lots of perks. You feel better, happier etc.

i wake up at around 5:30 every morning due to work/kids. My 4 year old and 2 year old don't give a F*ck that it's saturday or sunday.

My advice is to sleep in while you can.

I sleep very late every night because I am busy writing. I write best at night when there is no sound or birds or cars passing by or lawn mowers or anything. I need complete silence to be able to focus on my writing - I get distracted too easily with sounds. I first read books for 1hr then write for almost 2hrs. I wake up later too.

I thought about sleeping early and waking up early to write, but it's hard to write when you feel sleepy and also will be background noises such as birds/dogs/cars/etc so idk...

this is something that i actually want to get into (waking up early to write) but god damn its a lot easier to say than do. after that first hit of morning caffeine i always feel my most creative until the weight of reality (work) hits me.

a lot of writers/comedians im into do the same.

I'm so used to my 4AM to 12:30PM work schedule now, that I wake up even on my days off around 4AM naturally and I have to force myself to go back to bed. Even if I go to bed late I'll wake up around 4AM give or take a half an hour.

The main benefit is getting all your day done while everyone is still at work. Afterwards you can run errands while things are still open (bank, etc). It's really wierd going out shopping in the late morning on a weekdays because everyone that is out is either old people or stay a home moms. I feel out of place sometimes. Works out perfectly for our family because I get done with work early enough to where I could pick up my daughter from school and my wife goes in at 9AM so she can drop our daughter off at school in the morning. Never had to pay for a day of daycare in our lives. Stuff is way too expensive.

yep, getting sh1t done earlier in the day is underrated. you avoid huge lines at the store or bank. less traffic.

you ever go to a matinee before noon? so peaceful, basically get the whole theater to yourself.

Or just have a home office job like I do and get shit done while not waking up early. I walk my ass downstairs to my office at 8am not even worried about traffic conditions. Yawn.....

Really peaceful. Great time to troll ish. Listen to music, write. Watch the sun rise. My schedule is variable but I have times where I wake up early or when I only can sleep a few hours. 5:30 is almost normie early tho. But I'm always freaking out about being late and I like to really relax, enjoy a coffee, maybe take a shit etc before my day starts.

But I have times of getting up at like 3 or 4. When you wake up then it's generally not something you can sleep again after. I don't care about going out or anything tbh. Some nights I'll stay up late, but if I can i like to be in bed by midnight. I used to sleep like a beast but now I'm like a Jay Leno sleeper. I remember as a kid just sleeping all damn day in the summer.

I catch up w naps. Naps... V underrated. Woeful days when there is no time for a nap.

There will come a time in your life, maybe haha, where the most peaceful time alone will be at 3 or 4 am.

Edit : buncha writers n this thread. I'm da best mayne.

Your circadian rhythm is the most important thing. If you're not a morning person forcing yourself to get up even earlier will only cause more problems. The whole "Late risers are lazy" is total bullshit. I recommend a book called Why we sleep by Matthew Walker. https://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Sleep-...s%2C225&sr=8-1

Don't feel ashamed if you get up late. It might be your brains preferred schedule.

P.S I get up at 5:45am for work. I hate it.

Throughout life my schedule tends toward "night owl" if I let it, however, I feel like shit when I wake up too late. I actually have my best mental clarity when I'm waking up v early. So, it's hard to say. I don't mind waking up when it's dark, but I'd prefer it be morning. Those times in life, in winter, when you wake up and the sun is just setting its like fuhh. And it's super hard to change your sleep schedule when it's stuck.

Like I said mainly the bonus of staying up late is alone time, but if you can get it in the morning and see the daylight, it's better. I don't think people are lazy but seeing the sun is important. My friend used to work nights and he is also a night owl but he was like I ****ing hate working nights cuz you work all night n sleep all day. It's unnatural after awhile. It's like living in a different world.

I wake up every day at 6am. My commute to work is about an hour, so I have 30 minutes to get ready before I leave the crib at 630am.

That's why you guys see me on ish so early and more consistently, I'm a DBA and have a lot of downtime and this is one of the places where I kill time lol.
