In what world does it take good credit to have a checking account?

This world. What rock do you live under? I've met a couple people I work with not be able to open checking accounts because of banks closing their accounts for delinquency and a lot of credit unions will not open an account for you based on your credit history/payment history. A lot of those people have to use those Walmart debit cards in that case.
