Default Upgraded 1gb internet what modem/router to use?

From comcast cut the cable and kept internet gave me 1gb speed internet to keep me as a customer for 89.99 was paying $158

Question is I know my modem and router dont support internet that fast. What is the best router/modem out there I can buy? If its a combo even better.

You might have a router/modem that supports internet that fast but do you have devices that can? Most devices are maxed out at certain speeds granted you’re wired in and even worse when wireless

    really depends

    # devices you have networked

type of devises (TV, consoles, tablets)

    LAN or WIFI

    Gaming, Streaming, Security

Size of your pad, apt, neighborhood, air traffic

You can get a good end Asus, Netgear, D-link for $150-$200 for home use, half dozen devices connected

I'd find the one with the best layers of security. Most routers have terrible firmware vulnerabilities, like 95% of them. DNS hijacks taking over a router and overwrite settings is a nightmare, theirs cell apps that crack wifi pw with ease. Make that #1

Hit up a tech forum or reddit for specifics, avoid any ISP advice

some will drop customer service if you buy 3rd party and not their stock motorola junk

Gonna have to be more specific here. What kind of location is it (apartment, large house, small house)? What is it gonna be used for(home networking, streaming, photo/software editing)? If you're looking for purely performance, a dedicated router+modem would be better than a combo especially on 1gb. Need to make sure your load is spread, so you'll need multiple AP's don't use mesh or it'll suck.

I would recommend either of these modems:

    https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Cable.../dp/B0781VN7W5

    Routers:

Comcast allows you to buy your own modem. Any of the following will work... check the specs for speeds.

You'll want docsis 3.1, but they might force you to use theirs.

Non-fiber gigabit isn't usually worth it, IMO. It won't be anywhere near symmetric, you'll get like <50mbps up. Really wish fiber was more widespread in this country.

So for the router Walmart had a pretty good black friday deal got netgear nighthawk AX3000 for $99 normally $200. It should cover me for future internet upgrades too.
