He's the greatest five position player in NBA history. He won with a diverse group of players and against two dynasties (Warriors, Spurs). He's performed at a high level longer than any player in NBA history. He came into the league day one and was a top level player before he could even drink. He's manages to keep himself out of trouble in a mass media age and never got drawn into the pettiness of all the other greats. He would have been successful in any era and if anything this is the toughest era for him to do well because he can't use his greatest gift (his physicality).

He never led a team that could be called a dynasty. His record in the finals is sub-500, he was never comfortable being the main scorer on his team. He's never going to catch Kareem's MVP record and he won't beat MJ's ring number. He wouldn't be your first pick to build a team around.
In my opinion saying he's not top five is an absurd argument, putting together five players who played the game better than Lebron and take it seriously is damn near impossible. With that said while he's in the conversation for the GOAT he doesn't have the rings and MVP's to justify it. You can make an argument for him being better than Jordan and some other greats but it's an argument not a fact. Not having Lebron in the top five is just dumb. You can make a GOAT argument for eight players
1. MJ
2. Wilt
3. Lebron
4. Bird
5. Kareem
6. Bill
7. Magic
8. Mikan

How about we downgrade all of LBJ's Finals losses to Jordan 1st round exits (a la 1-9)?
So now he's only 4/4 and only made 4 instead of 10. Poor shmuck.

The ones who idolize losers are generally losers themselves.
I'm sure you're one of those participation trophy people.

This is what gets me.
Especially when you have a guy on here with 50 alts, who clearly has no life away from here.
On top of that, it's people with integrity, people who understand life and have been through things, who see right through Brons colluding and constant restacking of pieces.
How can someone appreciate that?lol

Magic and others can lay claim to that as well, while jack of trade but masters of nothing win less and dominate to a lower degree..
More importantly, Lebron can't run off screens to play off-guard (SG), nor can he defend them (Reggie Miller, Rip, Klay, etc) - he also can't play center anymore than... Anthony Mason.. so that hardly counts.
Otoh, MJ was a 30/10/10 point guard a full 30 years before Luka, Westbrook and company made it ordinary), while also being widely recognized as possibly the best post player in the game from 91-98'.
