Default Lebron hasnít won MVP in years

People keep talking about how heís been dominating this generation but heís not the same player who was winning MVPS.

Some will bring up playoff stats. First of all, regular season still counts too and secondly youíre basically saying Lebron has no endurance and passion to play hard year round, therefore heís conserving energy to inflate his playoff stats. Thatís why thereís no defense either.

It may be year 17, but Jordan won MVP at 35. Jordan was also the leagues leading scorer and first team all NBA defensive team. And he still had energy to win the championship.

    So stop calling Lebron goat!

He hasn't been winning MVPs because he hasn't been the best player in the league. Pretty simple, really.

Now let's watch all the accounts from Wheels start crying about this.

With all that said, Im pretty sure there is all of 3 guys to ever touch a basketball with more Mvps than Lebron in the entire history of the sport......I fail to see the issue here.

Because every year people say Lebron is the best player. And he hasn’t won an MVP in ages. Last year it was Giannis. Year before Harden, Westbrook, Curry twice and Durant.

7 years in his prime without MVP

    Sounds like a fake goat

And he isn't #1 in PPG, efficiency rating, BPM or WS/48.. but the REAL goat is #1 in all these areas and won every MVP available at 35

    carry on

Who were the top MVP candidates when MJ was 35? How do they compare to the top candidates today?

Look at everyone with their petty arguments and debates. Just sit back and enjoy watching some great basketball from talented players where the game today is geared towards protecting the offensive player.

Everyone here is funny with their pissing contests about GOATs and such.

Probably guys who won more than 47 games like Westbrook's bullcrap MVP award.

    35 yo MJ beat

    #2. 35 yo Malone
    #3. Gary Payton
#4. Shaq, who missed 22 games
#5. Tim Duncan, in his rookie season

Literally the only guy who was both in his prime and played a full season on this list is Gary Payton, with his 19ppg.

97-99 are the all time worst years for star talent. 98 was probably the worst.

LeBron stopped trying for MVP in 2014. He was coming off three straight finals runs and planned to keep competing for titles every year instead of resting up in a pretend retirement. Hisbsoon to be finals opponent were regularly resting their stars in preparation for the post season, and he sensibly throttled back a bit.

One of the greatest scorers in the history of the game was peaking that year and deservedly won the MVP even though LeBron remained a superior player.

The next year LeBron battled injuries all year and had the worst year of his prime. Still he outplayed the MVP in the finals and earned more FMVP votes despite being on the losing side due largely to missing his two best teammates.

The following year Curry had an historic season which would have earned him MVP honors over just about any version of MJ, but LeBron again proved himself to be the better player in the post season and finals.

The next year the MVP did something that hadn't been done for 40 years. It didn't matter if other players were better, the stat was historic so an easy first round exit won MVP.

The next year, the guy who "got robbed" was given a makeup MVP which he was desperately hunting.

The following year LeBron finally ceded his crown as the actual best player.

MVP isn't about who the best player is. It is often awarded to a player who manifestly is not the best player (Westbrook and Rose being the two most glaring recent examples). It is a narrative award. It is something guys who aren't real contenders can strive for to give validation to an otherwise futile season, while better players focus on bigger goals.
