Meh Alice in chains is a distant 4th of the big 4 grunge acts. Although punk fans like them more than Pearl Jam.
RATM first album in 1992 was lightyears ahead of anything else during the time.
I'd also add Nine Inch Nails since no one mentioned them yet.

after NIN....I'd say Perry Ferrell had the most impact in the 90s, he created Lollapalooza and basically spearheaded the alt rock scene of the 90s
