I'm not going to condemn him or anything without hearing his perspective but if this is about racial tensions the NBA would most likely let him do whatever protest he wants to before and after the game, in the current climate almost anything goes so long as it's politically correct. And any protest made in the NBA playoffs would gather a lot of attention. I'm not sure what he thinks not playing would accomplish better than playing with whatever symbolic gestures of protest he wanted to do. Or what he expects the NBA to do about this. The league exists to make money. If they let you kneel during the anthem or whatever so long as ou play, what more do you want/expect?

Feelsl ike you have a rift between players.
The high profile players want to play because they have smart advisors letting them know the millions they will lose.
You have other players that don't want to play because of current events going on.
Then you probably have other players that that don't know what to do and are not educated leaning towards not playing because of current events, but they have no clue how much money they will lose.

The biggest problem with Irving isn't whether he's right or wrong it's that you can't make him happy no matter what you do. If he just refuses to be satisfied there's nothing you can do. Let him and whoever agrees with him sit out and finish the season with guys that want to play basketball for millions of dollars. I bet there are a few guys like that out there
