Lets take Bird Flu. We get one of these every couple years, and the media always makes a stir of it to squeeze out some extra ratings during sweeps.

Say the bird flu breaks out.

Media announces there’s a bird flu. People become aware of it.

Governors then start offering money to hospitals for each patient they can classify as bird flu. OBVIOUSLY hospitals happily accept and begin diagnosing bird flu very liberally.

So far... all that has happened.

Then you have the “scientific community” start to analyze the fudged data.

Take the spectrum of scientific interpretations, and use the media to amplify only the most alarmist. Not only will there be natural variance if interpretation, but “Scientists” are regular people, and there will always be a segment interested in compromising their integrity for spotlight and self promotion. The media gives those who play ball the most facetime on the daily news.


So now you have fudged data and a media concocted narrative. And that’s pretty much it.

Look, this is pretty simple...

Worldwide, we have had 500,000+ deaths. There have been 5,000,000+ recoveries.

That's pretty rough, and it's definitely something to be taken seriously. But it's not end of the world shit and the fallout from the shutdowns is far more widespread and overall a bigger net loss for the human race than the virus itself. It's just that the pain and loss from shutdowns is not so blatantly obvious and in your face and inflammatory... especially compared to a virus that is easily pinpointed.

What I think is happening... it's a bit more serious than anything we've had for a while, and... on top of that, we live in a different world today than we have ever had during any pandemics in the past. And by that I mean, the media has changed on a global scale in ways unimaginable 50 years ago. Hell, the media has changed a lot in the past... 10 years. Journalistic integrity has gone by the wayside to being first and to capturing attention and driving profits. And one of the very big reasons for that is the advent of smartphones and people absolutely positively being plugged in all of the time.

Hell, the iPhone has only been around since, what? 2008? Lol.

The social and societal fallout is documented but the public is still largely ignorant about all of the ways these devices impact our lives, a lot for the better... but they're mostly ignorant about all of the pitfalls, of which there are numerous.

The media has the ability to control people's minds because as you are aware, most people are not smart. The media now currently has a disproportionate impact on society compared to all of humanity's past prior to now... because of smartphones and the internet.

The issue is people can choose what they want to hear and the “select your own narrative” media of today feeds that appetite.

Back when everyone was watching the same three stations on a big boxy TV, the media had to keep at least a fairly moderate/neutral tone to avoid alienating one side or the other. Of course they still selected which stories the public heard and which it didnt, but they were presented from a more balanced perspective.

For instance talk shows, even liberal ones, FREQUENTLY had interviews and debates with conservative figures in the past. That has completely stopped nowadays, bc Colbert and Trevor Noah etc know that their audience is exclusively left wing dweebs. So instead of presenting a balance, they just pour kool aid down their thirsty audience’s gaping throats.

Technology should in theory improve things, obviously that’s the point of it, but the issue is that technology is usually invented by a few smart people, then used by a world full of idiots.

Anyhow... so, let's go back 30, 50, 100 years ago... sure, there were less sources of information to choose from, that's undoubtedly true. But the information wasn't intentionally emotionally inflammatory from nearly every source like it is now. CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC, CNN, etc... now? They're all intentionally emotionally inflammatory. In addition to having people on all of these channels presenting their opinions as if they are factually correct information, they focus on as many inflammatory stories as possible because that's what draws ratings.

Hell, if you want proof of what I'm saying about the news go look at clips of people reporting Kennedy's assassination. They tried to remain mostly monotone and stick to the facts. Now we have "political correspondents" being shoved down our throats from virtually every single news source that are intentionally playing on people's emotions because people are stupid and that's what they cling to. The television news straight up didn't used to be the way it is now, never mind print.

The fact that the media is so emotionally inflammatory now just means that they now have that disproportionate impact I was talking about. People didn't get tremendously riled up by the TV media from 50 years ago... at least nothing like now. Because the media wasn't intentionally riling them up. If you think that our media is better today than it used to be in terms of sticking to the facts and not trying to rile people up and thus controls people less now than it did before, I literally am going to block you because your level of stupid will not waste another second of my life beyond what your next post contains.
