In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check . . . that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.” Justice in this sense was both protection from segregationists and access to that “vast ocean of material prosperity."

White people love to ignore that MLK was a champion of universal basic income and knew that racial inequality would never be overcome without socialist intervention. Reparations is a simple acknowledgment that if you force a group through slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, redlining, and mass incarceration simply saying "oh well now we'll make everything equal opportunity, we cool right?" will never be enough. MLK knew this - people like you who misrepresent him are pathetic.

Thing is though with reparations is why should a different generation of children pay for the sins of their fathers? In fact, it would probably be more like grandparents. 3 generations later, the train has sailed on reparations from segregation. If we are talking about slavery-related reparations then that's at least 6-8 generations ago by my approximate estimate.

An educated, well informed community that fought injustice non-violently. What we're all witnessing is nothing but that. Violence is on the streets. A black community that accounts for half of the single mothers in the US, a small percentage of the US that contributed to a majority of crime and so on.

This is reality check for our brothers. Our government is obligated if they are too big to fail though. So it caters so to speak but not to working class , poor or even middle class. They gonna have to figure that out. Ideally it can but not everyone pay equal tax and we have a welfare system so the priorities are very minimal in that regard. Our brothers need to realized that they need to be accountable and be pragmatic like Asian.
