Most NBA titles in the EAST over the last 30 years.
BULLS - 6
HEAT - 3
CELTICS - 1.
Not throwing shade or anything. Boston has been consistently excellent over the last 20 years. (Lots of great playoff moments and ECF / Finals)
But it's kinda funny when you think about how the Heat made 5 finals in the last 20 years which is more than any other Eastern team.
Are they going to be remembered as the Eastern Lakers/Spurs when we think about continued success and reloading around different players? (Shaq/Wade, Lebron Big 3, And now these scrappy Heat?)

If 1990 counts, then the pistons should be in that list as well.

Re: Most NBA titles in the EAST over the last 30 years.
Riley gets his credit generally.
The thing with the Heat, if we're being honest, is that the titles they won and Finals appearances made, they basically had to rent an all time dominate player (who didn't stay) in order to have that success. First Shaq, then LeBron, who have both won with other teams. We don't think of them the way we think of the Spurs and Lakers because, while Wade was their main guy, they haven't retained the same core of guys and won with them.
This year, however, is very impressive. And if they can keep this type of team going for a while and maybe win a chip or two, they will get their respect for sure.

That's a very, very interesting point.
It is actually the biggest difference between the Heat and Legacy Organizations such as the Spurs or the Lakers. (Fisher and Kobe were part of all of their recent chips. And with the Spurs it's even more pronounced with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili.)
Yeah. I guess the Heat feels a bit more mercenary.
