Why is JVG always mentioned in these discussions? I get very confused why he's always mentioned. He's literally not coached in 13 years.

Couple things at play here... one of them is the fact that the media loves to throw shit to the wall and see what sticks. Need not look further than that, as it pertains to them.

The second thing is the number of working aged guys that have NBA head coaching experience is limited and the NBA teams love to recycle former NBA head coaches. And why do they do that? These GMs have jobs, most of said GMs are stupid, because most people generally speaking are stupid, and so naturally, they're afraid to lose their jobs. And if you're operating from a position of trying to hold onto your job, what are you going to do? Go with an unknown name that's never been an NBA head coach? Or try to go after someone that everyone knows so you can get a short term approval boost in terms of how you're doing your job and hope things work out going forward?

Man, Kawhi is taking Clippers being knocked out even worse than I thought, and I already thought that he must be taking it pretty bad.

Wonder how this fits with Paul George's statement that this season wasn't a championship or bust season for them. Firing a coach who was with the team for nearly a decade a couple of weeks after they got eliminated from the playoffs, that is. Just another season, huh?

Since Kawhit was behind the firing of Doc, they'll hire whomever GM Uncle Dennis and Kawhi tell them to.

Load management seemed to work out pretty well last year for Kawhi. Maybe it would've this year too if the team didn't have chemistry issues compounded by 4 months away from each other. We'll never know, but its also possible that if they didn't load manage, then Kawhi would've been injured and not be able to play in the playoffs. If you lose, whatever they did will always be considered the wrong strategy.

Anyone else notice how they didn't fire him immediately after the Clippers lost to the Nuggets, but only after the Nuggets lost to the Lakers?

When has LeBron announced or went into a season with the mindset that he's not playing both games of a B2B?

When has James sat out 18+ games throughout the season due to load management?

Damn, Kawhi really came through and burned the whole organization to the ground in a year.

Made them give up SGA and 5 1st round picks for Wayoff P and then gets the most winningest coach in franchise history fired. All for a 2nd second exit.

Chemistry was the biggest problem for the clippers.

All for a second round exit? That's all Doc has been doing for 7 years straight lol

Ummm, his actions in the past completely contradict his own statement. Doesn't have to be exactly what Kawhi did. Lebron has literally sat out games where he was healthy.

This year. Last year, chemistry was their strength.

That's the double-edged sword of bringing in big name players. The team improves somewhat automatically, but some intangibles can get lost in the process. This is why I hated the trade for PG. If just Kawhi had come over, with no other changes, it would have been perfect. But to also bring in PG and ship out SGA & Gallo was too much change. The '19 chemistry was gone and a new chemistry never materialized.

Great to see Kawhi come in and make that difference. And they only had to give up their entire future for it.

Somethings you just can't change and that's doc rivers. Unless you have an overwhelming super team like 08 Celtics and even they faced Lakers without Bynum/Ariza.

Kawhi still has 1 finals appearance with a rookie coach in Nurse, Harden has 0 finals appearances with a 20 year veteran Mike D'antoni.

You ended up paying washed up Westbrook 40 million a year and your coach quit. At least doc wanted to stay. D'antoni ran from Harden's ass.
