Default 10 Titan players test positive for COVID19

The upcoming Titans-Steelers game has been postponed.

The Titans and Vikings (who they played last Sunday) have suspended practices

The entire Titans team tested negative before the Vikings game on Sunday.

    Only 4 players
    Starting DT
    Back up/3rd string LB
    Long snapper
    And practice squad TE

If there aren't further positives, the Titans may play as early as Monday or Tuesday

It was just announced that the Titans - Steelers game will not happen this week...it's been postponed to a later time in the year.

damn...I hope this doesn't become a frequent thing, that would be bad :/

Week 7 the Titans bye week looks to be a possible date. With the Ravens and Steelers moving from week 7 to 8, because both teams are on bye

This shit is doable with just a single happening...but if this were to happen with 5-6 teams it would be a scheduling nightmare

IMO they should just test right before the games, and the positive cases can't play but the game still goes on....if 4 players have covid then the Titans will be playing without 4 players that day.

They should have built more flexibility into the schedule and added an extra bye week for teams.

Rescheduling games whenever someone tests positive for covid seems like a recipe for an absolute clusterfck of a season.

What happens if these Titans guys are still positive next week? What happens if the Titans have a different set of players test positive in a couple weeks from now? What happens if a team has players test positive during the playoffs?

I think we need to find a way to allow the games to be played as scheduled. Maybe let teams have more flexibility with the roster rules, so a team like the Titans can call up a bunch of replacements from their practice squad on short notice? While it would be unfair to force some teams to play with replacement players, its hard to think of any way for the NFL to handle covid that isnt unfair in one way or another.

They need to have a "magic number"...if "5" number of players are positive or more then game bets rescheduled. If less than 5 then the game goes on.

    Something like that

what if one team hits that magic number several times in a season tho? Its fairly easy to reschedule once since the bye week can just be moved, but doing it two or more times requires adding extra weeks to the season.

also, assuming that stuff like masks and social distancing actually helps to reduce the spread as the so-called "experts" claim, requiring teams to play their scheduled games regardless of their number of positive tests would incentivize teams to take their virus precautions much more seriously

yeah this is going to become a hot mess...already is really

They should have given every team 3 or 4 BYE weeks like MMM suggested...allow for easy rescheduling

I think if the game can be played, it should be played....but if a team has like 8 covid players that just isn't fair at all...or if ALL of one position is covid and they have no replacement.

Yeah scheduling extra BYEs into the season would have helped tremendously with this. Extra byes would also have the benefit of increasing the number of NFL sundays (more ad revenue), and it would def help teams manage injuries too... I kinda think 3 bye weeks should be part of the standard NFL schedule

I dont think theres any option that would be truly fair, ultimately the league is going to be forced to decide which option is the least unfair. All things considered I think the least unfair option would be to require that teams play their games as scheduled... if were going to say that things like social distancing and masks can prevent the spread of covid, then why should teams get out of jail free when they have a massive outbreak? The Steelers havent had any positive tests (possibly because they have done a good job in following the virus rules)... how is it fair to force them to take their bye week right now instead of when it was scheduled, simply because their opponent this week happens to have a bunch of positive cases?
