Mitch did receive a vote as the player most likely to become a successful head coach. Derrick Favors received a vote as the most underrated acquisition of the offseason, while Quin Snyder received a vote as the coach most capable of making in-game adjustments.
and why didn't he make them against Denver?

Will the Jazz have to trade Rudy Gobert?
of course not. They may choose to but no one would be forcing them to
Gobert is what he is, a traditional center who’s a top-end defender and rebounder and shoots 64 percent from the floor of his career. But 90-plus percent of his field-goal attempts from within 10 feet of the basket every year, and most of those (80-plus percent of his field-goal attempts in four of the last five seasons) come from within three feet of the basket. Hardly a supermax player in today’s game, if we’re being honest.
one of the best players in the game period. You can argue as to how much sense it is to pay him or anyone the supermax but few have earned it or deserve it as much certainly not his teammate

On the other, it could be interpreted that the ball now rests in Gobert’s court. The Jazz obviously want him back, but the two-time Defensive Player of the Year needs to reciprocate that desire, even if it means shaving a few dollars off his asking price.
If reports are true the ball is the Jazz court. He has no reason to take a mere max offer that he can get from another team. Anything less than Mitchell or what other teams can offer would be stupid
In total, Smith has committed nearly $300 million to three Jazz players over the next half-decade without coming to terms with Gobert.
have fun paying that for a losing team if Rudy goes

The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has signed guard Yogi Ferrell and forward Malcolm Miller. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Additionally, the team has waived guard Trevon Bluiett, center Romaro Gill, forward Tre Scott and guard Jake Toolson.

Probably the biggest surprise this offeason was the sale of the Utah jazz to Ryan Smith. But so far it seems like smooth sailing as the Jazz have continued their trajectory from last season.
You mean they've taken a step back with Favors back at the 4?
bidding not buying
Hopefully Smith can figure something out for Jazz fans in terms of a streaming option, as well as finding a way to improve the TV product. We’ve had multiple seasons with ATT Sports Net and they haven’t always been good. They’ve chosen to literally not show certain preseason games for multiple years and have had issues with their broadcast multiple times. It can be better. Maybe that will mean a different TV deal when the contract is up, or finding a new partner. We shall see.
I remember when there only like 20 games total on
I like that Smith is willing to let the Jazz front office do its job. Regardless of this quote from Smith about letting people do their jobs, trades have to be approved by owners. So there will be things that come across his desk he has to sign off on. Will he allow the Jazz to make a big trade if they have to? Probably, but it’s got to be hard going from fan to big time decision maker.
now if he gets the right people to make those decisions not ones that are sentimental with the past
Perhaps this Monday we will have a deal. It’s just not clear why that hasn’t happened up until now. Unless Gobert, or Utah, has some sort of change of heart on Monday we likely don’t see a deal done.
If reports are true it's pretty clear. They are trying to low ball him with a max deal. He can get that anytime so unless he's worried about injury there's little incentive in it for him to sign. He already did that with his last deal but now that he's made over 100 million it's a bit easier to risk injury even though he's had a few scares though not for a few years now
Because of the signing of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gobert becomes one of the top, if not the top, free agent next offseason and will likely garner serious interest from multiple teams.
He's number 1 unless Kawai joins. Several teams can pay him max. Good times for Rudy! He's earned every bit of it

Smith said he anticipates needing to "be on a learning curve" as he takes over ownership of the team, especially on the basketball side, expressing great confidence in Jazz executive vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey, general manager Justin Zanik and coach Quin Snyder.
too bad
