Default Do today's players practice too much?

Back in the 80's many people thought the NBA players were getting into a bad habit by practicing too much, but now they practice even more.

Today's players are better at shooting free throws and scoring the ball while unguarded because they practice more, in fact some peopLe think they practice too much...

I agree with this from a purely aesthetic point of view. Players from decades gone were more graceful in their movements. Modern players bulking up has made them appear a bit stiff. I can't say what's truly more effective, though.

Practicing shooting 3s in particular has been a good thing.

Yeah, but at the expense of the frontcourts' play, which was also beautiful in earlier decades. I guess it depends of what type of basketball brand you like.

I remember when Jabbar played for the Bucks... he was lengthy and literally a stick. I stood next to him.
Many times when a fast break , or semi fast break occurred he was standing on the other side of the court...
    HE WAS TIRED.
Look at todays big men now , they run the floor all the time.
Look at Giannis - he leads a break.
Part of the pressures of professional sports is that it is no longer a seasonal job for the athlete's it is a full time yearly job !!
They hit the court all most daily , and run , but lifting weights help in removing fatigue.
This differs from high school players ... that are learning the sport. (And even now schoolers are hitting the gym as well as the weight
room not for fun , but for their sport) When I played compared to the current schoolers they are junior college players in my era.
Just remember what we as fans think looks appealing to our eye , has a whole different set of rules for professional athletes.
2020/21 season is all most upon us , and I was thinking what issues we may see. With the above comment - I will say NONE.

I think they train more their physical abilitites, and they don't train so much the technical skills as in the past. Apart from the 3 point shot.
