I dont think defense and any semblance of physicality is appreciated by this generation. Maybe NBA in the future will be purely non contact.

Bad mouthing the 2001 and 2003 allstar games. As Casual fan as it gets. Lebron gets drafted and all of a sudden allstar games rock lol. Seems like this guy doesn't like highlight reel dunks and watching 50 attempts from 3 is enough to satisfy him. He should switch to the wnba lol

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I love today's game and I love the 90s game, the 2000s, the 80s....I'm a basketball fan. Each era has its own charm for sure. But it's really hard to pick one over another for me. One thing you guys aren't seeing is this is a transitional era. The 3 point boon has arrived and now the clock is ticking and eventually the minds of the game will change things to combat it better from a defensive perspective, and then the process will repeat. In sports every revolution is followed by evolution.

This era is ****ing garbage. You can't even play real defense anymore. It's a joke.

*Yet, you can't play real defense yet. Be patient. Remember when you couldn't even get a 100 point game? These things take time.

They better do something. Basketball cannot just be about chucking 3s. It would be one thing if the defenses neutralized it. But it's a one way street.
I like to see a variety of moves. Defense, mid range, post ups, slashing, and of course some 3s. In the 2000s, the balance was good. You were lucky if you had a guy like Peja or Ray Allen. Now, every team has players that shoot more 3s than those guys. You can't allow Harden to do that double step back move. There needs to be a balance soon.

It was curry's fault that he did nothing aside from chucking a lot of 3s that the league had to follow his footsteps.

They need to bring hand checking back. Offensive players have too much freedom of movement on the perimeter now.

The Kings getting screwed in the 2002 WCF was the beginning of the end. That was an exciting team and they were good for 2 more seasons after that but never the same. Webber got hurt in 2003, and KG wolves were on a tear in 2004. The Spurs being the dominant team after the Lakers run really hurt the league. If the game wasn't rigged we could have seen a Warriors style offense win a title in 2002 or the Suns in 2007. But we never did. Rasheed Wallace said Stein flavored the Spurs to get the more international appeal.
I also wish there wasn't chicken sh** bias calls in the last Super Bowl. The Chiefs would have kept it close otherwise. How does getting Brady another ring in a fair weather sports town help build the league for years to come. If anything flavoring the Chiefs would have helped if Mahomes had 2 rings and one win over Brady he could catch up with Brady before he retires. But now the gap can't be crossed.

You are a nostalgic dumbass. The games back then very less competitive, players didn't really try on defense, and there weren't "multiple great dunks to remember."
Take off the nostalgia goggles and quit playing revisionist history.

Defense is better than before.
Previous eras were not as fun.

The Kings should have played better.
The NBA didn't rig the series for the Lakers.
Quit being delusional.

I miss the old 90s NBA but I would be remiss not to say that a lot of it is being nostalgic and being a kid during that time where everything feels new and carries mystique.

Oh come on. Don't believe that it's just nostalgia. The NBA had character. You had players of all sizes. From Mugsee Bogues and Spudd Webb to Shaq and Shawn Bradley. You had 3 point specialists like Steve Kerr and later on dribbling specialists like Jason Williams. It seemed like every team had characters. Guys getting in fist fights too just made you realize how competitive they were. You had all KINDS of players.
