Default Corporate Profits Drive 60% of Inflation Increases

    https://mattstoller.substack.com/p/c...0-of-inflation

    long, but interesting read.

Higher prices aren't just a result of supply chain chaos or government spending. Inflation is being driven by the pricing power and higher profits of corporations, costing $2,126 per American.

said it from the start, material and employee shortages are very real, but they would be used as excuses to increase prices (permanently). even when the supply chain irons out the supply shortages, the prices are not going down.

it started with a 5% surcharge in summer of 21, another 5% a month later...fast forward to now, we're up 25% in less than a year. it's laughable.
