Durant is the biggest front runner in the league. Curry is a generational talent.

Should be blatantly evident given the talent discrepancy on their teams and how Curry makes the game easier for his teammates, while at the same time putting up better stats.

Not much better, but he is better. They are both great. Curry does more on the court that is conducive to winning. Don't think that can be argued. I'd say that makes him the better player.

He gets more defensive attention and puts up equal/better stats as well.

I somewhat agree with you but Curry had a similar team last year that he has now. What changed? His teammates got better, the youngins got better and figured out how to play team ball. It wasn't magically Curry making the game easier for his team, because he did the same for them last year and they shit the bed.

I think alot has to do with Steve Kerr coaching. He is underrated head coach.
