Putin declares annexation of Ukraine regions he has invaded.

Zelenzky replies with application to join NATO.

Only completely different outcomes. The US blew Iraq to hell and occupied within days. Russia is still trying to occupy. The Russian invasion makes me feel like Russia barely has an air force.

The comparison of the US invading Iraq to this really highlights the difference between a $65B military budget and an $800B military budget.

It's quite the opposite and this thing is building up to a long term conflict.
Putin can't just send whatever troops he likes, wherever he likes, he has to follow the Russian constitution.
Annexing these parts of Ukraine changes the whole complexion of the areas, as Putin can now use it within Russia to mobilize a rather large part of their army, as they'd be defending home land instead of doing a military operation in a foreign country.

Going to be some crazy next couple of years for Europeans and the rest of us living here, I imagine economic travesty for the common people.

Putin is looking foolish at this point on the world stage.

Putin now can't send whatever troops he wants due to his Constitution??
Another Russia propaganda excuse for their failures thus far?

Russian generals can do the world a huge favor by putting a lead slug into that fakkit Putin's skull.

Did you miss the news in last couple of days? This is Putin digging in for the long run as he needs extra troops to hold the annexed areas, a very bad development for the situation overall.
I don't care what it "looks like on the world stage", people living in Europe are heavily affected by this situation and we're still just at the beginning of it.

ZenMaster doing good work here in this thread. It takes a lot of patience to explain this stuff to the regular main-streamers.

Putin has expanded his country. In the coming months, he will claim some kind of victory.

The US and Nato will also claim victory. They will say they stopped Putin from taking over Europe. (Putin and the Russians have been clear on what their objectives have been. They aren't stupid enough to believe they could take over Europe.)

Russia expands its country but loses its pipeline.
The US now becomes that main supplier of Natural Gas to Europe.

That's pretty much what has happened.

Russia spent 11 Billion on the Nord Stream Pipeline......All gone now.

The US spent 54 Billion on the Ukraine War. But stands to profit greatly from selling natural gas to Europe.
