I remember the fast pace Suns and Mavs going at in back in 2006-07. This begins a new iteration of these teams going at it.

That said, I've got the Suns in 7.

If you believe the writers at ESPN, the Mavs don't have a chance. All 20 of them picked the Suns to win the series. But there is something to give Mavs fans hope. When they won the title in 2011, they faced the Lakers in the second round of the playoffs. In that series preview all of the ESPN writers picked the Lakers. I'm assuming most of you know how that series turned out.

Ayton is definitely going to be a problem for Dallas.

Who is going to guard Doncic? Has to be Crowder right? Luka would bully Cp3,Booker or Bridges. He has to go off against the Suns. Both teams are good defensively but i expect high scoring games. This will be a fun series.

If the Mavericks hit their threes consistently and efficiently, they can win this series. Mavs hit 15.3 threes per game in the first round, much higher than anyone else in the playoffs, and higher than their regular season average (13.1). Their strategy against the Jazz was to hit threes to neutralize the Mighty Gobot's defensive reach. But this won't work with the Suns, who are fifth in the league in 3 point defensive FG percentage.

Doncic was excellent against the Jazz, but he must be even better agains the Suns. He has the ability to be the BPITW. So far, he seems the combination of Robertson's fundamental skills with Chris Mullin's craftiness.

The Suns will win because they proved themselves over the entire season that they are the most versatile team in the NBA. No serious weakness, and they are among the league leaders in major offensive and defensive stats. Coach Williams always has them prepared, and the Suns do not get rattled if they fall behind. or get lazy if they're ahead.

The Mavericks will be hot enough from three to steal at most two games but no more.

This is a bad matchup for Dallas. Probably going to look a lot like Phoenix vs. Denver from last season.

    I'm hoping otherwise.
