Re: NFL Season Discussion Thread: 2022
Cowboys Defense needs another linebacker and another DT, and we should be good to go.
The Trade for S.Gilmore @ CB fills a hole. Resigning Donavan Wilson @ safety fills a hole.
resigning Vander Esch gives us depth, but we really need another LB.
We need one of everything on offense: G,T, RB, WR, TE (Tyron Smith restructured)
The details of the restructure of Tyron Smith’s contract have emerged. Just as Cowboys Wire laid out earlier in the week, Dallas had a path to create over $40 million in cap space by executing savings from Ezekiel Elliott, DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyron Smith’s cap hits. That article also mapped out how converting Michael Gallup’s base salary could save money, too, but that wasn’t a recommended move.
The Cowboys did all of the above, releasing Elliott, converting Gallup and Lawrence’s base salaries into bonuses and restructuring Smith’s deal. The details from the latter have emerged and it turns out that Dallas has added another $9.6 million of cap space. Even after accounting for the deals agreed to with safety Donovan Wilson and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, and trading for corner Stephon Gilmore, Dallas sits with just under $23 million of cap space now.

The Arizona Cardinals might not have DeAndre Hopkins around much longer. If the receiver has his way, he just might end up with the Dallas Cowboys.
don't think Jerry would do this... but it's possible.
According to a couple agents I’ve spoken with the Cardinals looking for at least a second round pick and a conditional pick for DeAndre Hopkins. These conversations are taking place at the combine.

You can do all those things and Dallas will still find a way to fail

I agree, but somehow I'm still interested in that failure.
We have cap space, we have the draft... I want to see what direction the Cowboys go with this thing.
We have a balanced team... if we make a few key moves, we could have an elite offense or a Doomsday Defense.
I mean... if we got somebody like Hopkins, and then drafted a RB in the 1st Round, we're going to be dangerous.
We are going to wake up every Sunday Morning feeling dangerous.

Let's Go Brandin!!! Let's Go Brandin!!!
The Cowboys are acquiring the veteran wide receiver from the Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, per sources. Dallas has since announced the trade.

NBA sixth man of the year
Re: NFL Season Discussion Thread: 2022
Crazy the Cowboys have surrounded Dak with amazing talent and have nothing to show for it.
Chiefs WR1 at the moment is Kadarius toney and Chiefs fans are pretty happy because the defense might be a little better next year. They might even finish top 15. That's all Mahomes needs to win super bowls.

The talent around Dak is going to be on another level in 2023.
We got rid of Kellen Moore which was a big part of the problem, got rid of Zeke that was slowing us down a bit.
The plan with Dak was to be a bus driver, we need a high powered Defense, high powered Run Game and both of those should improve next season along with Daks passing attack.
Cooper Rush won games for us with this formula and somehow we drifted away from it and depended too much on Dak.
Dak should be able to get you a good regular season... but we need to depend on our Run Game and Defense in the playoffs.
We have $13 million left, still got the draft... and we need a RB, OL, DT, LB, TE... This is the type of year you'd want to trade up and get players that can contribute now as opposed to develop.
Secondary is set, WRs are set... we have a great team on paper and we're still adding, can't ask for much more than that.

Brandin Cooks only counts $6 million against the cap in 2023... as opposed to $12 million, and we have him for 2 years.

$19.5 mil in cap space... Need to find one more player.
We can get Ronald Jones for our #3 RB... might be able to get a good deal there.

Lamar Jackson requested to be traded.
1. Where is he going?
2. Would you trust your franchise in his hands, or is he too big of a risk?

Indy seems to be the spot that's sticking out for me. They're just outside the running for the two best QBs in the draft. They have the talent and seem to be a QB away from becoming a contender. His health is absolutely a concern though.
As a Pats fan, I'd like him on our team, but not at the money he's looking for. Plus, I'm still a believer in Mac Jones. Last year wasn't his fault.
