Trey Lance getting hurt was the best thing to ever happen to the 49ers. Yes, Jimmy G will probably pull something stupid later down the line and cost them the season, but from reading reports from training camp and watching that week 1 performance vs the Bears, Trey Lance simply isn't ready. Their defense is legit and Jimmy G could have a few games where he actually looks solid.

49ers Defense is so good... They just need an experienced bus driver and Jimmy G is a far better fit than Lance.
wouldn't be surprised to see the 49ers in SB this year, or at the very least the NFC championship game.
49ers or Bucs vs the Bills... seems like the most likely scenario atm to me.
in 2021, San Francisco made the decision to trade up for Lance in the draft, using three first-rounders and a third-round pick to acquire him. It became crystal clear that the 49ers were ready to move on from Garoppolo, and have Lance be the future of the franchise.
I mean, let's think about this... you don't sacrifice the future unless you are in win-now-mode... and if you are in win-now-mode, you don't start a rookie QB. The trade was retarded for SF.

Re: 2022 Official NFL Season Discussion Thread
The NFL has a serious problem on it's hands with roughing the passer penalties right now. Look, I get it, QB's are the face of the league, and they want to protect their investment, but after a horrendous roughing the passer call on Josh Allen against the Ravens last week, the infamously bad one on Brady yesterday, tonight's in the Raiders-Chiefs might've arguably been worse than the one on Brady.
It's reached a point where literally tackling the QB gets you flagged for roughing the passer. I know the NFL's gone soft on hard hits since the concussion fervor over a decade ago, but it's legitimately ruining the game right now. They're calling these in absolutely pivotal spots too, on 3rd down, towards the end of the 4th quarter, and basically decided the Bucs game with one yesterday. I don't know if the league will do anything to address it, but it's seriously the worst reoccurring situation in sports right now, and sooner or later, a playoff game is going to be decided on one of these awful calls.

They protect the hell out of the quarterbacks, but I've seen some receivers catch the ball and get destroyed by a linebacker or safety and no flag is thrown because he hits him with his shoulder instead of leading with his helmet. They need to find a middle ground where they call defenseless receiver a bit more while limiting the roughing the passer calls. The damn quarterbacks have pads on like everyone else. No reason at all to protect them more than other players. Miss me with the 'face of the franchise' crap some people bring up.

Yikes, just the 2nd page and Doomsday has already hijacked the thread with his weird, autistic posting.
Well, it was a nice idea OP

That's ok... you still have the NBA forum where you can continue to discuss the same pointless topics over & over & over... Like Jordan vs Lebron, or your top 5 point guards of all time.
There are thousands of NBA threads you won't find me in... but unfortunately, you'll find me in this one. Sucks for you I guess.
it's going to be okay SouBeachTalents, you'll survive.

Buffalo and KC giving us another classic. Allen and Mahomes are truly giving me 2003-2009 Brady/Manning vibes. Absolutely must watch

Not often Mahomes makes a mistake in the clutch. But I saw the Bills winning a mile away, they have been building to beat the Chiefs. They have a legit pass rush now, Von Miller is gonna be a headache for Mahomes when they meet again in the playoffs.
Good to see the Cows defense gettin lit up... even if it's by the Eagles. Get it done Iggles. Get the Giants into 2nd place 8-)
