Default how to stop Boston ??

Boston is a pretty complete team.
8-9 players all playing a role to win.

How would you stop them ??

In my opinion last year at times it appeared Tatum was carrying the team.
but in all those wins critical shots were not made by Smart , but by Brown.

Brown is the guy to stop and you can beat the Celtics.

    your thoughts ..

Have 5 legit centers like Cleveland. They are a good matchup

Tatum is extremely talented in almost all facets of the game, but for a mega superstar, he’s relatively mechanically predictable.

Tatum, while having strong deltoids and hands, also has a small rib cage, and extremely narrow hips and lacks lateral leg and hip strength to bully/dislodge defenders in post up isolations, and is not as naturally comfortable in a lower, more powerful, post-up stance on offense.

Like Wiggins, Porzingis and many others, he has a light body and light thighs, and while this is great for fast breaks, it’s not as optimal for physical playoff half court crunch time.

Defensive minded coaches will find a way to force him to become more adaptable in real-time, and that will be his first major true test as a player.

You can't be GOAT with a small rib cage.

You know a guy has arrived when the question of how to stop him is discussed and someone presents an answer like this:

Their offense looks great, but the defense looks like it has regressed a bit.

Maybe that will change when Robert Williams comes back.

They're a tough team, mostly because they're tough and athletic at all positions and they have a really great 2nd option in Jalen Brown.

Overall, they're just very physical and tough, which is going to be too much to handle for most teams.

I'm still not completely sold on Jason Tatum as the FMVP player and I think like someone above said, he is a bit slow and predictable, which means he can be slowed down somewhat by having defenders play him really close. He isn't going to blow by good defenders.

I guess it will mostly come down to which teams can match their depth and intensity and not a lot of teams seem to be able to do so.

That's what I'm hoping. Their defense at times looks like the first several games of last season. But they at least have the #1 offense to counter that.

I coulda just said some lazy retaaaahded sh!t like George Gervin “force him left”, but really the next big adjustment defenses will make is having their squad lock into the scouting report, and anticipate & cutoff his very mechanically predictable go-to moves, and slow, rhythmic, mechanical counters.

Tatum doesn’t play fluidly and adaptably yet. He’s very erect and mechanical, like a lanky robot designed to play basketball.
