No one in the West is that good

Phoenix - CP3 can no longer reach a top level, so the Suns aren't a juggernaut talent-wise.

Denver - doesn't play defense or have the "hard" athletes to do it (tremendous firepower but a bunch of soft offensive guys in Jokic/Murray/Porter).

Memphis - many of their key guys are BETTER than they were last year - this could be the team but their issue is offensive VARIETY - they lack it, so it's probably "too early" for them

Pelicans - too early - just not quite good enough to win a conference yet - they could make a deep run this year and then be ready next year

Clippers - won't be a factor because Kawhi is apparently missing the season again and there comes a point where it's too late to make a push this season.

Dallas - they're like Lebron's early Cleveland teams, aka low organic team ceiling due to worst-ever brand of ball (last in team assists) - his big man ball-dominance and the resulting weak brand will need super-team talent to win just like Lebron did

Kings, Jazz, Wolves - c'mon

Warriors - they're old and their young players are apparently taking another year to develop or perhaps no longer the projected stars that they once were (Wiseman, Kuminga, Poole).

So the West is wide open and the Lakers' shooting is coming around with Reeves and Walker, while Schroeder is starting over Westbr.ook..

Furthermore, any team with Lebron at 2nd option is easily the most stacked in the league, so with AD coming back to form, it's a wrap.

AD and Lebron plus a bunch of veterans like Walker, Reeves, Westbrook, Schroeder, Thomas Bryant - how is that not a title team?5.

Lakers aren't a favorite with Lebron as the 1st option - they're only champions with AD as the 1st option for the regular season, playoffs, and carrying the Lakers to the Finals

Now that AD is back to that caliber, the Lakers are the favorites again.. There's nobody in the West that should be able to beat them.

Lakers are a super team, and while I wouldn't go so far as to call them favorites to win the West, they should certainly be a top three seed if they get their stuff together.

Benching Lebron would also help, since they clearly are a much better team without him on the court.

You listed the flaw of every team but the Lakers. Lebron is old and AD hasn't shown that he can stay healthy. That matters when talking about 82 games plus an entire playoff run.

Plus Westbrook is a butcher at the end of games..still. He doesn't need to be playing in the last 6 minutes ever.

All bets are off if AD gets injured for sure, but so far he's been playing the best ball of his career. He stayed healthy in 2020. It is possible.

Lebron was still an elite player in 2020 and their role players with Rondo, Kuzma, Caruso, KCP were far better than they are now.
