[Charania] Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are finalizing trade sending D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt to Los Angeles, Russell Westbrook and first-round pick to Utah and Mike Conley Jr. and second-round pick compensation to Minnesota, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Agreed. However, this is an awesome trade for only one FRP.

Yea this is a really good deal for lakers. Unlike most people I don’t hate it for Utah. They weren’t getting a first for beasley and vando wasn’t getting a great 1st. Conley westbrook is arguably good swap for Utah. Minnesota is team losing value but they did get 3 2nds for an expiring Russell and conley might fit better

The big question now becomes this: does LA use its other 1st round pick? I feel like this season is a bust. Might be better off saving it. Beasley's 15m is a team option next year and D-Lo is a free agent after this season finishes. Vando is on a cheap deal so that's nice.

Lakers fans want Gary Trent and would have to attach bad salaries like bev Lonnie walker etc but I think they could use a big also. Trent or big could be expiring tbf still leaves flexibility for next offseason and you get off bad salary but you have to sign someone in free agency no one to trade for. Rotation looks something like

Dlo/Schroeder
trent jr/beasley
Lebron/reaves
Vanderbilt/Hachimura
Ad/Bryant

Or you get a starting big and make Reaves or beasley the starting 2. It’s pretty damn solid should make some noise in playoffs if AD plays and you have a lot of cap room during offseason

They would've had to give up both 1sts for two role players.. Instead they signed T Bryant (who's been like at least 80% as good as Turner, and Turner wouldn't have had the same touches in LA), flipped Nunn & 2nds for Rui and only needed 1 pick to flip Russ for 3 legitimate NBA players. FO can't control AD's injury luck and all the close games they've blown this season.
