When you've decided to marginalize MVP's and Cy Youngs for advanced stats and longevity numbers what you really end up doing is hurting both. Because Helton loses his credibility as a true Hall of Famer because we are talking about the players who aren't in. The Baseball hall of fame is less what you did to get in and more what excuse can we use to keep you out.
I don't believe it's black and white like this at all. And I shudder at you calling OPS an advanced stat. It's easily quantifiable with two of the 3 most important numbers in hitting there is. But anyway, you don't have to put sole emphasis on either and can analyze their careers as they should be. I'm not going to throw aside someone for winning an MVP or a Cy if they actually had the best season and deserved it.

Johan Santana is a good example actually, and someone who I believe should be in. He was legitimately one of the top 2-3 pitchers in baseball for a good 5 or so years, both when it came to award voting and actual numbers. He deserved those Cy's.

Outside of the steroid guys, with whom a line has clearly been drawn whether you agree with it or not (I personally believe they should get it but is what it is at least they're consistent about it), who is not in that is a better player than Helton was? Again, he was losing out both on shine and MVP votes to the roid guys and Pujols. If you put everything in a vacuum and take out the steroids then Helton is still one of the best hitters of any era.

Bobby Witt Jr signed a new contract with the Royals; 14-years, 11-years guaranteed, $288.7 million dollars. It's the largest contract in franchise history.

Good move there. Idk if he’ll ever be an MVP level player. He could be I guess but more importantly he’s the type of dude who will completely turn a franchise around with the way he approaches the game and the type of leader I’m certain he’ll be.

    People will flock to him.

2024 Blue Jays is such a mixed bag. Still, it looks like Alek Manoah away to go deep into the playoffs.

My favorite baseball player right now: Nelson Cruz

Why? Cause he's the only player still playing that's older than me.

The Braves are going to have another 162 games of spring training. We can completely coast to 100 wins.

I gave up on that game after they took out Strider. Offense was dead. And then look at what happens.

Absolutely not. I want them again.

They’ll come in overconfident after the last 2 years and we’ll fvcking destroy them. Baseball works that way.

Glad to see NYM retiring Doc Gooden's number. Ceremony is April 14th.

That kid was a bad motherfukker when he broke in.
