I’ve always suspected the fervor of some fanbases in both rap & basketball, not being based on talent or playstyle at all

Nor being based on seeing ourselves in the player/rapper..

But rather, based on attraction, seeing themselves IN the player, or vice versa.

Same thing is contributing to a very weak era in rap music, because female fans & DL/gay fans are driving the sales.
And they heavily favor emotional narratives, and sympathy ballads and shit.
They “R&B”-ifying rap with their purchase tendencies.

The direction of the NBA is loosely connected to this sad trend.
