Saying literal facts is not discrediting. He’s capable of coming off the bench in spurts and getting a few buckets. He’s also not a good defender and his streakiness as a player in general doesn’t lend itself to giving him many minutes against a good team in the playoffs.
Schroder is a huge part of the Lakers success this year. He's an expert flopper and gets to the free throw line a TON. He's a competent scorer and picks up the offensive slack when DLo and AD are having off nights. And he's one of those tenacious, pesky defenders who throws the opponent's guards off their game. If anything, the guy's underrated.

He's a very competent player off the bench. What he is NOT is someone that every other NBA team doesn't have. At this point he isn't really better than someone you've barely heard of on the Spurs who gets 24 minutes a game.

Again, he was traded for nothing last year and came of the bench for the Rockets. He's not really the guy I'd look at at this point to prove a teams stackedness.

Most NBA players can score a little bit when no one is paying attention to them at all. But there's a reason he isn't getting minutes.

Schroeder is the Lakers 4th primary ball-handler behind D-Lo, Lebron, & Reaves - this is based on the ball-domination stat, aka "time of possession" from NBA.com (here)

So that's by far the most "playmaking help" in the league, as usual.. Lebron once had a top PG in Kyrire Irving and still asked for another playmeker.

The reason Lebron needs more help is because his abnormal ball-dominance for his size/position imposes spot-up roles, which doesn't develop teammates or yield high strategic capacity/coaching and team ceiling/Finals records.. So he needs more help than other skillsets.

Every team has someone with the 4th highest time of possession on it. Each one of 'em

No team is exempt from this fact. You just only pay attention to one.

Reaves, Hachimura, D-Lo and AD are on fire because Lebron is no longer dominating the ball - this is what I've said all along - these guys are playing to capacity because they're free from Lebron imposing spot-up roles via abnormal ball-dominance for his size/position.

But imagine if Lebron was a great off-ball player (expert jumpshooting skill and polished moves off the catch) and could average 30-35 like Curry or MJ off-ball - these stacked Lakers would obviously be the juggernaut league favorite and 3-peat team - nut unfortunately, Lebron isn't capable of being a dominant basketball player while playing off-the-ball, so these Lakers were underdogs heading into this series and against Memphis.

Having a guy like Schroeder as your 4th best playmaker represents the best playmaking help in the league.

History shows that Lebron simply needs more help - the guy needed an all-star center just to win 40 games, and then needed an all-star center, HOF coach, 3rd Year team, and 22/5/5 acquisition just to make playoffs and 2nd Round.

Then he added a couple other all-star players, an all-defender and even added an old Shaq (better than any center Jordan ever had) but kept getting destroyed in the playoffs by underdogs (09/10) or locked up (07/08).. He needed to put the top 3 first options in the conference on 1 team to win the conference more than a 1-off when everyone was doing it, aka AI, Kidd, Dwight.

    But keep deflecting.

Lebron's skillset of abnormal ball-dominance for his size/position has always yielded a your-turn-my-turn strategy - this requires all-time ball-handlers like Wade, Kyrie or Westbrook and still diminishes their hold-time compared to playing alongside normal forwards that don't dominate the ball.. The lower hold-time and assists of teammates yields low TEAM assists, which is the standard result of a player dominating the ball an abnormal amount.

So again, history shows that Lebron's inferior skillset of abnormal ball-dominance and imposing spot-up roles doesn't develop teammates or yield good fits and strategic capacity/coaching, so he needs more help..
