Tokyo Vice on HBO Max gets my approval
was looking for something relatively new and decent to watch on TV,... went ahead and gave this one a shot... I must say I was very entertained, and will probably be watching this again.
if you're ever bored, give it a chance, you will not be disappointed.
I know it's over a year old and I'm late, but damn... glad I didn't pass on this one.
Only 8 episodes so far... looking forward to a 2nd season.
The second season of Tokyo Vice, the Max Original starring Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe, was announced last June, after its successful debut in April. The series is based on a true story of an American journalist, Jake Adelstein (Elgort), who worked as a reporter for a Japanese newspaper and exposed the dark secrets of the Tokyo underworld in the late 1990s. He was mentored by a veteran detective, Hiroto Katagiri (Watanabe), who helped him navigate the dangerous and complex world of the yakuza.

pretty sure i made a thread about this show when it was released. it was really well done, the cinematography captures Tokyo really well. the yakuza gangster was my favorite character. show has a very noir feeling.

Yeah this was a great show.
It also shows a world that doesn't exist anymore, a man's world.
