I don't think race is the problem nor should it be. Jesus was often portrayed by the wrong race as well in movies. It's not a problem for historical figures whom most people have no idea/wrong idea what they really look like. For example, if you cast Andre The Giant as Goliath from the bible, there would be no problem despite them not the same ethnicity.

Everything about the series just sucked, and the wrong race just topped it off.

I actually watched it...the race swapping was bad but their was so much other crap in the show/movie.

They didn't just race swap Cleopatra they also turned her into a girl boss and seemed to erase all the slaves from Egypt. Netflix has 100 million subscribers...why do your shows look like something out of a 70's PBS special.
