When did Chris Paul became an afterthought?
Seems like he was always regarded highly and all of a sudden he's a non factor.

Because everyone knows he's going to get hurt, and he does.

Re: When did Chris Paul became an afterthought?
His last hurrah was helping Phoenix make the Finals a few years ago. Unfortunately he's now at a point where he can't give you a 60+ game season and a full postseason. He needs to be on a team where he can load manage through a 40 game season and has a good enough second pg that he can just orchestrate the offense when the game is on the line. You can't risk playing him for a minute beyond that. In fact even getting that level of load managing may still be too much for him to handle physically but it's the only hope I can see for him to continue his career and matter to a team that could win a championship.
Which is why I did want to are the Celtics get him if the price was low.

Top 10.
Re: When did Chris Paul became an afterthought?
Like others are saying, he's almost 40 and super injury prone. If he hypothetically accepted being an elite role player who plays 6 minutes per quarter, he could be extremely important if healthy.

I don't think afterthoughts hit huge buckets like this in Game 7's

Centers 32-35
forwards 34-36
guards 33-36
all about speed, legs , and stamina

Oh ok, so they're all essentially the same age. Thanks for the input.

it used to be guards would out last centers and forwards ... but with sports medicine that has changed.
Some centers when they hit 33-34 it is like they are running with an anchor.
Some forwards look normal, but their first step is totally gone.
Guards its easy to spot , their defense has gone south , because the speed has gone.
Seeing anyone go past 36 - 37 is quite remarkable.
It is 100% dedication from high school on to take care of their bodies.

NBA lottery pick
Re: When did Chris Paul became an afterthought?
After the failed lob city. I don't think they were ever the favorites to win but they still underachieved.
I will also say Chris Paul on the Hornets was the best version of himself.
