Why does the bible endorse slavery?
Ephesians 6:5-9
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

Re: Why does the bible endorse slavery?
That verse is not endorsing slavery, but referencing the slaves that existed within the Roman empire as slavery was endemic during that time period.
Here is a better explanation of that verse:

Does public school not teach you the same exact thing? Just without using the words slaves or Jesus.

Your world view has no basis to call slavery objectively wrong. Mine does.

Re: Why does the bible endorse slavery?
When the Bible gives instructions on slavery it is not akin to 18th and 19th century slavery like we commonly think of today. If it were, then abuse would be condoned. But Paul instructs the slave masters to not even go as far as threatening his slave in verse 9 (only verses 5-7 were quoted). What the Bible does condone is a regulated indentured servitude. To answer the problem of poverty in those days there was no welfare system or if times got really hard the ability to file for bankruptcy. Either you lived in poverty and eventually starved to death, or chose to become a slave to a master in exchange for money. A master abusing his slave is condoned all over the Bible and does not endorse it in the way you and I think of slavery in 21st century context.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was getting people to worship him.
