Silly me. I thought it was because when you allow bad behavior with little consequence, particularly among those without a father figure in their life, then guess what, bad behavior will continue.

They would tell you they "need" to steal. I remember when I was 18-19 a friend of a friend stole a shotgun from my truck . The police contacted me because he had been busted with it along with drug charges. He later came to my door to apologize, literally crying saying I didn't understand, "he NEEDED the gun at that moment". My dad was pissed, he demanded I press charges for theft, but his parents paid for the gun, and threw a $1000 on top if I didn't press charges. So I didn't. The police later contacted me again to give me the shotgun back, I told them to keep it. It felt dirty to use it again plus I had already been paid for it.

At least the police seemed to be doing something about it. Someone tell those scholars that its not an election year, and the police aren't going to be ordered to stand down just yet. They just need to wait a little longer until Trump wins the GOP nomination, then everything in most cities will be free for the taking.
