But for real:
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary. Don't know why this doesn't come up more often in top rock songs lists. The whole Love album is nice. This one stands out.
Talk Talk - Eden and also the whole Spirit of Eden album.
Graham Nash - Better Days. Again, the whole Songs for Beginners album is great. Songwriting up to thebstandards of much more beloved bands like the Beatles.

Opeth - The Drapery Falls. Outside of fans this band gets overlooked a lot. This song is just an example.
I think most of metal is underrated in the general public, because it's unbearable for a lot of people, but in general is accurately rated by listeners of the genre(s) so I don't think there's alot to post here.
