What type of contract for ben simmons right now?
I know some jokers will waste time but what do you think and what role.
About 7-7-7 in 20 minutes a game this year.
Injuries make this harder.
Draymond green is available more.
Simmons would be perfect if healthy with okc as rebounding and playmaking defender at pf.
However, unsure how anyone could trust his health.
Thoughts?

With Draymond you get a vocal leader and captain on the defensive side of the ball trying to help guys stay organized, calling out reads he sees on that end of the floor, and being an energizer for the team with his hustle it becomes infectious.
With Simmons you don't get that even at his best 5 years ago. He just relies on his own instincts and athleticism.
He's checked out mentally. I think he should instead follow his passion and be a video game player and call it a wrap on basketball.

What else I can say is that since joining the NBA, Draymond has developed skills. I honestly can't see one single improvement in Simmons since his rookie season.
I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near my team. That type of work ethic is cancerous.

Green gets 26 m a year. Simmons gets 40m.
Right now.
I expect simmons still gets paid one more time. Might even play better in his contract year.
Long term, you are all probably right.
I have hoped he shoots again but just doesn't seem to care.

He still has star talent and that will keep him in the NBA. But if anyone offers fun a deal on par with Green he better leap on it and on a side note they're crazy. His deal will be tricky to negotiate. The GM that deals with him will have to find a smooth way to say, "we believe in you but you're a ho." If you think that he is actually going to play then he's worth 10+ mil a year. But you are holding on to that belief ignoring the last three years of evidence. Also you are accepting that he's scared to shoot, and even if you are in denial about him missing games you can't get around that obvious fact. If I was running a team I would only want him for the minimum or something relatively small. That way if he remains the same (highly likely) it doesn't cripple your franchise. But there will still be teams that see his talent and are desperate enough to take a risk. And he will sign with one of those teams for something more substantial.

Brooklyn’s starting point guard was forced out of Saturday’s 101-86 loss at Minnesota with a leg injury and didn’t return. His status is unclear. “No, it’s a knee situation. We don’t have any clarity on it yet. We’ll go back and get some tests and make sure he’s OK. I don’t know his availability for Monday,” said interim coach Kevin Ollie, who initially suggested Simmons would be getting imaging as well — i.e., X-rays, MRI exam, etc.

Erik Slater: Kevin Ollie said Ben Simmons has a knee injury and will get imaging done before the team clarified it is a leg injury. Simmons missed a game due to swelling in his left knee after returning from his recent back injury. He missed two extended stretches due to the knee last year.

He shouldn't be in the NBA.
He was never interested in basketball, just the lifestyle.
