Would you choose to remove one negative emotion if you could?
Lets say there's a scientist that can permanently remove a negative emotion from you so you could never feel it again. Would you do it? If so, what would you remove? Anger, sadness, fear, shame, hate, jealousy, regret, something else?

Depression. I don’t have it now, but it’d be nice to not have to go through it when I’m 70+, retired and constantly thinking about my mortality.

You're Chinese right? You can't have the Ying without the Yang. Or the chicken without the general Tsos sauce.

Without depression or sadness we wouldn't be able to appreciate motivation or happiness.

You can do what you already do now and distract yourself by overly fixating on trivial things like Donald Trump shoes.
You got it made!

Definitely fear. Fear is crippling. A lot worse than all those other negative emotions.

I would still feel sadness, because that's a different emotion from depression, right? Feel free to correct me, I don't know that much about philosophy.

You have 33k posts and not one where someone read it and went "wow. that was insightful, I learned something" or "that was interesting" or "he seems intelligent" or even "that slightly amused me".

What’s great for you is even when Donald Trump is long dead and gone…that doesn’t have to stop your fixation and end the distraction. You can merely keep it going. You can look back at the shoes he sold, talk about how overpriced they are, imagine in your head who ever would do such a thing as buy them? I mean there’s lots of material for you to go over and over. I wouldn’t fear being depressed and what you will do when you get there. You already have many somewhat effective manners at managing it.
You’re good homie. Relax.

Without fear we wouldn't have bravery or courage tio which is the overcoming of fear.

Re: Would you choose to remove one negative emotion if you could?
Fear is actually a human necessity to live. Otherwise you'd fall off tall buildings, get attacked by animals, lose your money to gambling, do harmful drugs, etc. We fear certain things for a reason, because they'll harm us.
It's the unnecessary or irrational fear that we can all do without. The fear that maybe we have cancer right now, or maybe in the future my kids will die, or maybe there is a mass conspiracy to harm everyone, maybe it's the end of the world. The media and politicians on both sides create irrational fears for us to fall into. Certain businesses use irrational fears to sell products, irrational fear is everywhere.
