Jokic had 33/14/14 and I still blame him for the loss. He was the best player on the Nuggets by far but in a game like this he could've had 40 and 20. He was lazy with some easy shots and allowed some defensive boards he should've secured to be had by Davis. He didn't bring the energy and Denver goes as Jokic does. A huge triple double looks like a very fine game, but it wasn't.

Lakers deserved the win. Hopefully it will wake up Denver.

What other options do the lakers have? Rui had 2 boards in 28 minutes guarding Jokic and AG(meaning he was near the basket) and was completely lost on defense. Prince had 1 board in 20 min as Rui’s backup and looked a little bit better defensively because he got to get some reps when Jokic or AG sat. I’m not saying Jaxon Hayes is the answer to all your problems, but he HAS to be better than that, I mean at some point the only way you can go is up. If Hayes offers 4 pts/ 4 boards in 15 min with avg- above avg defense he has been infinitely more impactful than those two. Every game you guys kept up with Denver in fg and 3fg, but it’s been the difference on the boards and bad defense down stretches that has been killing you guys. And D’lo is a roleplayer. You don’t just give him the ball in tight playoff games and say “here ya go, make a play”. No, you give him a few good looks where he catches the ball into his shot, and if they don’t go in bench his ass because he isn’t worth the defensive liability. Maybe bring him off the bench? Playing him and Reaves together for extended minutes is asking AD to make up for way too much defensively. Rui, Reaves and D’Lo? Sheesh. Makes Gobert’s Utah squads look like 96 Bulls defense. If Nuggets have been shooting normally and Murray hasn’t been ass these would be blowouts. Like, these are good roleplayers, but Ham needs to rotate them better.

Hayes is just not the guy for anything more than 5mpg. He is not a smart player even if all he has to do is to defend and rebound. He picks up fouls too fast, and he lacks composure. AD or Rui are the only big men options that play composed unfortunately. They didn't add a strong backup center, which was a big mistake by Rob. Even washed up Robin Lopez would have been better than Hayes for 10mpg.

I don't know if Lakers tried Hayes+AD together this series. I wish Vando was able to go. He plays great defense and is an elite rebounder. We know he fits well next to AD.

Too little too late. They were due to win one but it happened when the series is over anyway. At least we can say that we didn't get swept this time around.
