Holy shit. MJ might not even be a certified top 5 player by the time 2025 is here!

Thumbs down Re: MJ's stats called into question even further due to "soft rims" prior to 1994

This n!gga and his ALTS (as seen here replying to each other) all need an intervention.
Your a$$ has at least two different types of mental illness.

This ain’t what you want it to be, you sad weird MF.

This type of language (soft rims), is immediately understood by anyone who played at a high level, as meaning:

… Any old breakaway rim (only breaks away to the front, not the sides), that has been dunked on >5 thousand times, “softens up” and some older than that, even have a tiny bit, like 1-1.5mm of the front of the rim being just barely out of level, bent slightly down in front but not in any percievable way to a spectator who didn’t play at a high level themselves.

So free throws and top of the key might have a 0.1-0.2% better chance of going in, especially from shooters without Steve Nash arc. More line drive like Tmac arc.

Nothing significant, and certainly even less softness than these modern 180 breakaway rims, which really help corner shooters, way more than the old front-breakaways, which had NO GIVE at all from the sides. Baseline J’s on those had zero chance if they were short or long, but since the new rims debut’d around the time of the bubble, baseline and corner shots HAVE occasionally gifted a make, due to their increased malleability from those angles.

Thread entire concept aims to say the older rims were somehow a significant statistical advantage, due to words you misunderstood, and missapplied, in your quest to fellate your modern heroes by diminishing the actual goat. Conceptual fail, execution fail, alt fail, all around, a total embarrassing offering, showcasing how inferior your understanding of different rim types are, and how pathetic, disingenuous, and sad/embarrassing your tactics in making such a case are.

Like when Rick Moranis (as Louis Tulley) attempted to defend the Ghostbusters in front of Judge Scagliafucci or whatever the fu@k. Almost Unfathomable levels of self-unaware failure.

It’s like seeing little kids when they discover Santa isn’t real. They can’t argue against it logically so they just shriek emotionally.

That's nice, but singling out one player is worthless when it comes to form a statistical analysis. Did other Bulls have higher numbers what about visiting teams? Did they shoot better in Chicago?

I mean..there’s not legacy ruining aspect here but it IS a thing.

I remember Tmac complaining about the rims in Houston his first couple years there and the home/road splits, particularly with 3s, was drastic. The first year he shot 28% at home and 37% on the road.

If both teams and all players are playing on the same rim there's nothing unfair about it when it comes to winning or losing a game. It may have a small effect on stats compared across eras but when you consider the massive difference caused by things like the style and scores enforced by Ewing's Knicks vs the offensive explosions we see in the pace and space era, what's really important?
