USA roster and the vets
Anyone surprised to see so many superstar vets on the roster? Lebron, KD, Curry and at first injured Kawhi - usually players at this stage of their career try and save their legs for the next NBA season and yet here they are playing through the summer.
I get there's great honor in representing your nation however these players have already accomplished that and won USA gold so why the extra commitment and wear and tear on their bodies?
KD I can see, the man loves basketball but why the others? My only theory is the status of their current NBA teams. Quite simply, they stink and these legends that are used to being at the top of the mountain and now fighting for 8th seeds at best. I guess Lebron could be gunning for the extra hardware but I'm sure the reason is they're all tired of the nightly butt whoopings and want that feeling of dominance again.

Thoughts? Feelings? Accusations?

What other options do they really have? The young superstars in Luka & SGA are not American. Giannis & Jokic are not American. Morant is injured. It seems like all the up and coming NBA players are from different countries not including Edwards so they are left with selecting the old dogs. I think at this point of their careers guys LeBron & Curry are just trying to enjoy every moment they have left with basketball because they know it will be over pretty soon.

Doesn't that align with what I'm saying... winning and dominating IS enjoying the moment.
Even with having so many great international players at the top the USA could still field a strong team.

Booker, Haliburton, Bam, JB, Maxey, DMitchell, KAT, Holmgren, Bridges, Garland, JJJ, Fox.
The quality does drop off pretty quick for top talent but if you did remove the all time greats I don't think anyone would question the roster that much and granted I have no idea who's injured or not.

Kevin Durant’s agent, told ESPN that Durant has been working tirelessly to return to play and he could’ve played during Team USA’s games in London. After holding Durant out of Monday’s game against Germany, Kerr said Durant was “day-to-day” and that the plan was for him to have “a couple practices in a row and a scrimmage” before he’d be available. – via ESPN

Well, they actually need them this time around.
Those 3 guys are still top 10 players in the league.
The other top 10 guys are from other countries. It's needed.
