Re: NFL Football
Jesus Christ, I had Pacheco & Kupp on my fantasy team, Mixon might be out too, while I'm sure Hill will be impacted with Tua on the verge of retirement. 2 weeks in and my team is already up in flames

Quarterback play over the last few years has been terrible.

Nah that’s a wild oversimplification. It’s an arms race like anything else and defenses has figured out the passing onslaught.
The running game is absolutely back.

Teams started running two high safeties a lot vs KC for obvious reasons. Teams figured out it works and not just vs KC. Take the dink and dunks but give up no home runs.

Yep.
Also outside of the front 4 entire defenses have gotten smaller and way faster and better in coverage. Schematically most teams have gotten better at disguising blitzes. Playing quarterback right now is way harder than it was in 2018.

Honesty though teams rushing rookie QBs into starting positions when they're not ready is also a factor. Not only have defenses caught up to offenses, but there's a ton of young inexperienced QBs starting across the league.

Mel Kiper's pushing for the removal of those safeties being able to go back as far as they want. And it's true, QB's never go deep anymore. The talk starts around the 5-minute mark. And

Re: NFL Football
They already altered the rules to favor offenses to such an absurd degree, I hope they don't implement that rule. But knowing the league, I'm sure they'll find a way to add a rule that will only make their on field product worse.

That is pretty funny. I don’t like the idea. I hate the rule changing and think it should be only a last resort in rare and extreme measures.
I don’t know how it would be enforced either, even if you made the safeties start up closer, there’s nothing preventing them from backpedaling or turning their hips and getting back deep quickly immediately after snap.
And it’s not a cheat code defense, in my opinion it’s a bit of an even trade, as a defense you are allowing the offense to chew up tons of game clock as they run the ball and hit short passes underneath for a long drive, while giving up the risk of a big play.
But it turns into this question, as a defense would you rather them score a touchdown on a 1 minute drive or a 7+ minute drive?
So running two high safeties and letting the other team rack up the time of possession is actually hurting your offense.
I think there’s enough strategic counters and trade offs that everything is fine how it is right now. Let it play out organically. I wouldn’t be surprised if in awhile teams start shying away from two high once teams start grinding the hell out of them. There is an ebb and flow of stylistic changes in all sports across time. Let it play out.

Thankfully the AFC doesn't look as strong as advertised.
Lot of really good teams but no juggernauts like the Ravens were last year.
No 3peat for Mafraud

Considering his experience... I don't think he sounds too bad. Already better than Collinsworth
