2024 USA Olympic Team was not impressive!
I don't get all the show boating. And fans shouldn't look up to them. They were 1 or 2 plays away from losing to Jokic. Think about that. 10 All Stars against 1 all star. If Curry didn't go nuclear from the 3, Team USA loses easily. And they were only up by a few points to France, who only have a couple of All Star caliber players. Again, if Curry didn't go nuclear, they lose.
Please don't compare this team to the 92 Dream Team. Especially if they had to play against them with the 90s rules. This team was not very good. And barely winning against teams that have 1 or 2 All Star when you have 10 All Stars is just embarrassing. Without Steph Curry, this team would have been lucky to win the bronze medal.

Yeah to me it's crazy how close these games were with the talent advantage they had. I'd blame Kerr if he was the one in charge of their rotations.

The rotations were definitely strange. No rhyme or reason at all.
There was never a point where both Bron and Steph should have been off at the same time but that probably happened for a good 10 of the 40 minutes against France.

Several international teams are looking to get better for 2028.
France will have improved Wemby, will have Alexandre Sarr.
Germany will have peak Wagners.
Canada will have peak SGA.
Serbia will still have peak Jokic.
The US seems as if they're the one's losing the most talent for 2028 right now and it's not looking to be replenished.

Jokic won't be at his peak in four years. Peaks don't last that long, he's already on the downswing of that peak. It might be over in a year maybe two when we look back on his career.
He will still be excellent most likely, but this was the best version of Jokic that Serbia will get.

How would we even know that yet? He had more points than last year, Career year for rebounds. His defense looked better than it ever has. He just came off an MVP. Even out of shape Shaq and Barkley didn't start their decline until 30. It could be 2-3 years before we see a slight decline in Jokic's game. I will say once he does start declining, I have a feeling he will retire unless he's winning rings

Re: 2024 USA Olympic Team was not impressive!
We know that because he has been in his "peak" for 4 years and counting. Nobody has ever been in their peak for 8 years concluding with being 33 years old which Jokic would have to do for the 2028 Olympics.
Historically peaks last 3-4 years. Which puts Jokic near the end of that window.

An interesting thing to me is that in 2008 Team USA put up 118 points in the Gold Medal game and Spain put up 107. This was before the 3pt spam era.
Where as yesterday and vs Serbia the games ended with scores in the 90s and 80s.
Kind of goes to show 3pt spamming doesn't necessarily mean higher output.
The 2008 Team USA had better defense as well with prime Kobe, Wade, Dwight, Chris Paul etc. But Spain still scored way more than France and Serbia.

Enjoy is guys, this will probably be the last time we win Gold in a while. We had it good in the 2008-2024 era due to LeBron, Durant, Kobe, and Carmelo who was a beast in FIBA, but those days are likely over. We just don't have the American talent we used to.

I disagree, he's never been better and it shows in Serbia playing like they did.
He's the clear leader of Serbia now and any team he is on. Last time he played for Serbia he deferred to Bogdan Bogdanovich.

Re: 2024 USA Olympic Team was not impressive!
The downfall of Team USA in 2028 is completely overblown.
Potential 2028 choices
Peak Booker (beast FIBA player)
Peak Ant
Peak Tatum
Peak Brown
Bam
Peak Haliburton
Peak Maxey
Brunson
Banchero
35 year old Davis
Chet
Flagg
There's an outside chance Ant is the best player in the world by that time.
It's likely that Serbia will be worse in 2028 because the two best players wil older. France should be better though however USA still has better players #2 through #10 so it's not like USA will be underdogs.
2028 is in the USA as well. They have the "home" court

Call it prime then.
Jokic will still be prime. What he loses in athleticism he will win in experience and leadership.
